8. Local Sub Committees:

9. Correspondence: a)anti-priv conference-June 10-12,2012.6 delegates will be going at headquarters expense,and one at local expense.

b)Dove award-applications are accepted until February 11,2012.

c)AUPE curling bonspiel-March 30&31,2012.The entry fee is $200.00 per team.All profits from this will go to Habitat for Humanity,Women’s Build.

d)Calgary area council is selling discounted tickets to the Calgary Zoo.If interested,contact Calgary area council.

e)BBQ contest from Johnson Inc.,the local with the most sign ups from each sector will receive a thousand dollars for the local.

f)Prairie School for union women.This is open to all union members that are active.Five applicants will be accepted up until March 5,2012.The school is June 10-14,2012.

g)Advanced steward training-want feedback from the locals as to wheather or not it should be offered at headquarters as a regular education session.

h)2012 AGM’s-headquarters needs at least three weeks notice for these.Your area MSO will bring out the long service awards.Would like to see local executive at these meetings.

10. Old Business: a) Convention updates-the hospitality room will be at the Delta Center.A mistake was made on the money left over from the previous year,and now requires each local to send more funds.Motion put forward,”Local 43 pay $20.00 per delegate for the hospitality room at convention.”m/s/c

Motion put forward,”the policy on allocation of credentials to AUPE convention #7,be deleted and the bylaws be renumbered accordingly.”m/s/c

b) Labour school-bussing is arranged and should be receiving your instructions in the mail.

c)Bargaining contact list-all chapter chairs should have a phone fan out list.Updated information is passed onto the members that sit on this team.

11. New Business: a) The bargaining honorarium will be started to be paid out as soon as the employer and AUPE meet at the tables.

b) our local has transferred funds to local 40, Covenant Health,to cover our members that have transferred to the new local.

c)Mobilizing-council recommends that each chapter have their own mobilizing sub committee formed.

d)International Day of Mourning will be April 27,2012 at AUPE headquarters,starting at 0900.Lila Czmuchalek and Gail Seitz-Gratton from the local OH&S sub committee will be attending.Four alternates have been choosen in case they are unable to attend.

e)Our education day with Valerie Cade,late motions made due to fact that the education day is February 8,2012.Motion,``that we purchase the Bully free in a box as a local,plus 2 extra books-2 per chapter.``m/s/c.Motion,”that local 43 purchase a Encouragement for the Encouragers,program for the cost of $497.00.”m/s/c.The total cost for both motions is $1055.94.

Guests: Guy Smith,AUPE president,talks of the GSS contract.They are back at the tables as they voted 95% no for their mediators report.Info pickets are scheduled for later in the month.GSS needs all the support they can get.The threat of GSS going private is there because of the actions and bargaining.Jim Petrie will consult with bargaining,but Terry Agoto will be at the tables,as Jim has accepted a postion of MSO supervisor.

Bill Dechant,AUPE secretary/treasurer-our $30,000.00 investment will only get about $123.68 return as the markets were low,but they are slowly starting to pick up.

Dennis Malayko,AUPE OH&S consultant-stressed the importance of filling out WCB forms.Even though it is a pinch,hit,or spit they should be filled out.MRSA or C-difficile,a SORS or a RLS as well as a WCB form should be done.Violence in the workplace is also a big issue.
