/ MTG Engage (PHF funded) asks has project: Increased arts engagement for LD people? Identified successful strategies for overcoming barriers? Led to venues & staff being more LD inclusive?
Staging Change (EFF funded) asks has project: Improved skills of LD artists? Improved career progression routes for LD artists by increasing visibility, challenging low expectations & improving levels of understanding among venue staff including programming / producing personnel?
These two projects focus on different areas of arts engagement for LD people i.e. access & participation at Engage level, and professional artistic practice at Staging Change level. Irrespective of whether the evaluation commissions are united into one commission, or separately - MTG aims to ensure that: 1) the learning and outcomes of both projects can inform and benefit each other, and that there is a joined up approach that looks across the continuum from participation to professional practice; 2) there is efficiency for participating venue personnel and that we encourage a holistic approach to developing excellent inclusive practice for LD audiences, participants and artists; 3) there is sufficient consistency of approach across the two projects so that we can work towards the objective of establishing a replicable model for future projects, as well as helping to ensure project management efficiency for MTG staff team.
