Northern California High School Theatre Festival March 7, 2009

Mt. Pleasant High School, San Jose, California

About the Festival

The CETA High School Stage Festival is an exciting event for high school drama students. At the festival, students perform monologues and scenes for panels of judges and compete to earn awards. In addition, while judges are tabulating the scores, students get to participate in high energy theatre games.

Unlike involvement in sports, it is rare for high school theatre students to have an opportunity to meet peers from other schools, share their passion, showcase their talent, and learn from one another. This festival brings together hundreds of students to do just that. All participating students qualify to attend California Youth in Theatre Day, where they meet and perform with other award winning students of all ages from throughout the state.

Individual students may compete once in each of the two categories: Monologues and Scenes. Students will perform each of their events, twice- Once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Between sessions time is available for lunch.

In the morning sessions, students will receive verbal feedback from judges and performance suggestions, similar to master class students. In the afternoon students perform for another panel of judges for who will score the performances for awards.

While the scores are being tabulated, students participate in high energy theater games. The day concludes with a presentation of awards. All students receive recognition for their participation.
