MSW Distance Education Degree Program

California State University, Long Beach

SCHEDULE

Through the use of interactive technology, California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), in collaboration with Sonoma State University and CSU Channel Islands,is offering a Distance Education Master of Social Work (MSW) program on the Sonoma State and Channel Islands campuses.

The three-year program provides a concentration in Children, Youth, and Families. All courses meet on Saturday with the exception of the field placement (internship), which requires 16-hours per week during the second and third years of the program. Most of the courses originate from the Long Beach campus through the use of interactive technology and are broadcast in real-time with two-way audio and video to students at their host campus. Through this teaching modality, the professors and the students interact with one another as they participate in these courses. Field seminars are taught by local faculty at their home site. Field placements are arranged locally. The program also provides CALSWEC Title IV-E funding for eligible county employees for degree-related expenses.
