I.  Review of Meeting Minutes 10/12/2012 – Motion made by Matt to approve the minutes. All in favor.

II.  Constituency Concerns and Comments

·  Andrea thanked Trisha & Jen for obtaining a lock for the Connections Display Case.

III.  Information Items:

a)  Ongoing Projects

a.  TV Lounge update – out for bid, project is moving forward. Plans include mounted projector, large screen, HD TV capability. Hope to complete over the winter break. Trisha mentioned that the MSU office needs to connect with Conference Services to get the room on the reservation system.

b.  Stage Lighting update – out for bid. Plan to accommodate expanded stage. In the past, extra lights had to be rented to for large events. Light package includes backlighting which are LED – more energy efficient, about 20 lights to be installed. Greg K. is working with the MSU staff. Hope to complete over the winter break.

c.  Security Cameras – In progress, still waiting for University to establish their campus wide plan. Hoping to expand the camera coverage in the building.

d.  Carpet project – In progress. MSU 223 carpet was professionally cleaned over the summer, and although it looked great initially, the stains quickly came back. Hoping to complete over the winter break.

e.  Paint project in 218 & 223 – some areas were damaged by student organizations. Decision was made to repaint the whole room. Tim asked if the organizations were being asked to pay for the whole project. Trisha replied that they are only being charged for the cost of a patch and paint which is a fraction of the cost. Hope to complete this project over the winter break.

f.  Upholstery project – Trisha reported that 18 benches are being recovered, 9 benches are out now for recover and once those are done, the other 9 will be sent out. After that, loveseats in Fireside Mezzanine will be recovered, then the 1st floor hallway furniture.

IV.  Glass Tabletops

·  Glass tabletops have been removed from MSU 323, 324 & 325. Trisha reported that a glass tabletop in the Fireside Lounge shattered a few days ago and reported the MSU staff was re-evaluating and exploring plexiglass or acrylic.

V.  Leftovers from catering: Trisha reported there has been several cases of student organizations leaving their trash behind from the new “Take Away” service offered by Aramark and polled the group for ideas on how to handle to problem. Trisha had posted a notice on KUnited in September to be proactive. Kent explained that student organizations are well aware that it’s their responsibility to clean up and organizations need to adhere and accept that responsibility. Andrea suggested that more detail needs to be provided on the message that Aramark provides to the group. Kent suggested that you always have the option of restricting the use of “Take Away” in the MSU. Trisha said she would like to avoid that. Kent suggested providing a warning, then restrict the specific group from using the “Take Away” option if subsequent violations occur.

VI.  Action Items.

No grants.

VII.  Added concerns and comments:

·  Follow up on the spelling mistake on directory – waiting for response from Carol Sztaba.

·  Matt asked if it was possible to have the custodians empty the trash in the offices on a Friday afternoon. He noted that any food garbage that would be in the receptacles from lunch would be left until Monday. Trisha suggested throwing food items in the common area trash cans since those are emptied regularly over the weekends. She also noted that we are currently short staffed with custodians.

·  Sarah asked when the holiday tree was going up. Jen responded Nov. 21 and would be coming down over the winter break. Sarah mentioned that OCAC would be doing a fundraiser for Friends Inc. called “Charity Cheer.” For a $1 donation, you get a personalized ornament for the tree.

·  Petritza mentioned that Primp My Bod is tonight and the Video Game event last Friday was a great success.

·  Tim mentioned that UGC is trying to coordinate with West Chester University on a Hurricane Sandy relief project.

VIII.  . Meeting is adjourned.

The next meeting will be held on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at 2pm in MSU 312.
