2. INGREDIENTS INFORMATION AND COMPOSITION

Chemical Nature: Grease acid derived solution.

Classification and labeling of the product: Contains aliphatic solvent.

3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

More Important Dangers: Flammable vapors. It is noxious if ingested or if breathed into the lungs. It can cause irritation to the eyes and skin.

Specific Dangers: Flammable product. Avoid contact with strong oxidants. Can cause fire.

Chemical Product Classification: Flammable.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Inhalation: Remove patient from exposure to a well-ventilated area with fresh air. If breathing stops, apply artificial breathing. Immediately seek medical attention.

Contact with the skin: Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothes and shoes. If the irritation persists seek medical aid.

Contact with the eyes: Rinse with running water for 15 minutes. Seek medical aid.

Ingestion: “Do not offer anything to be ingested by an unconscious patient”. Do not induce vomit. There exists breathing danger. Immediately, if the victim is conscious, give one or two glasses of cold water. Immediately seek medical attention.

Protection for medical assistant and/or notes for doctor: Handle victim according to symptoms and clinical conditions presented. The mineral oil is not indicated once it increases the hydrocarbonates absorption.

5. FIREFIGHTING MEASURES

Appropriate Extinguishing Methods: Chemical dust, mechanical foam and carbonic gas.

Firefighter protections: In case of fire use adequate EPI and independent respirator.

6. PROCEDURES TO CONTROL SPILLING AND REMOVAL

Removal of Ignition Sources: Maintain product far from fires and heat sources.

Dust Control: Not applicable.

Prevention of the Inhalation and of the contact with skin, mucous membrane and eyes: Use indicated EPI’s.

Inhalation: Use mask with filter against organic vapours or mask with air feed, when the product exceeds the tolerance limit or in closed ambient.

Disposition: Dispose in a proper area, in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

Secondary Hazardous Prevention: Dispose of packaging in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Eliminate the packages adequately.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Workers Exposure Prevention: Use safety goggles, mask with filter against organic vapours, PVC gloves, rubber boots and PVC aprons.

Explosion and Fire Prevention: There is risk of explosion. Never place the product near heat sources and places where sparks can be generated.

Precautions for safe handling: Handle in accordance with established standards of chemical safety.

Directions for safe handling: Avoid prolonged contact with skin. Use appropriate EPI’s.

Appropriate technical procedures: Store in fresh and ventilated area.

Suitable Storage Conditions: Store the product in temperatures less than 35°C and in ventilated location far from the bad weather.

Incompatible products and materials: Strong oxidants, alkalis and lead acetate.

Recommended: Drums with fixed covers.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/ PERSONAL PROTECTION

Engineering controls: Maintain adequate ventilation and airflow in the work place.

Limits of occupational exposure: Not determined.

Respiratory Protection: Mask with filter against organic vapours or mask with air feed.

Hands Protection: PVC gloves or another adequate material.

Eyes Protection: Security lenses for chemical agents.

Skin and Body Protection: PVC apron and security boots.

Hygiene Procedures: Use adequate ventilation. Wash hands after work. Do not eat or store foods in work place.

10. REACTIVITY AND STABILITY

Instability: Avoid open packages when the product is not in use to avoid its volatilization.

Specific conditions: The vapours form explosive mixtures with the air.

Conditions to be avoided: Maintain far from the heat, flames, ignition sources and incompatible substances.

Incompatible materials or substances: Strong oxidants.

Dangerous Products of Decomposition: Carbon oxides.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

LOCAL ACUTE EFFECTS:

Ingestion: The symptoms due the ingestion include gastrointestinal upsets, ache and discomfort. The main risk is the chemical pneumotite and pulmonary emboli due to the breathing into the air-ways.

Inhalation: High concentrations can cause: irritation of the mucous membranes, discomfort of the respiratory system, head ache, nauseas, insensibility and other effects in the central nervous system.

Contact with the skin: The prolonged contact with the skin will cause the loss of the fatness of the skin and ensuing dryness resulting in irritation and possible dermatitis.

Contact with the eyes: It causes irritation and can cause lacrimation.

Systemic effects: Presents narcotic properties and affects the central nervous system.

Chronically effects: Repeated exposures to high concentrations can cause damages to the liver, kidneys and to the blood system. It can also cause damages to the respiratory system.

The product does not present cancerous or mutagenic caracteristics.

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Is toxic for the aquatic life. It can contaminate and percolate the table water.

13. TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL

Its residue should be destroyed according to the pertinent legislation of environment control local, state and federal. The residue could be incinerated in landfill.

14. TRANSPORT INFORMATION

International Regulations: For volumes bigger than 1 kg. (Limited Quantity) this product is considered a dangerous product for the terrestrial, maritime and air transport according with its respective regulations (ADR, IMDG, IATA-DGR).

National Regulations: For volumes bigger than 0.500 kgs. (Limited Quantity) this product is classified as dangerous for transport, according with the Resolution 420 of the Terrestrial Transport National Agency of Feb. 12, 2004.

Transportation of samples by terrestrial, maritime and air ways: For volumes not bigger than 0.500 kgs. (Limited Quantity), according “Portaria 204” of 1997 and regulation IATA – Packing Instructions Y305, this product is not considered as dangerous.
