Welcome! You have now entered the time machine. Fasten your seat belts and hold on for the ride of your life. We are going back in time to the late 1800’s and we will end our journey in the present. We will encounter many heroic people, discover new inventions, witness historic events, and realize the continual change in our world, our nation, and our society.

NOTEBOOKS:

You will be responsible for keeping a notebook consisting of class work and homework. A table of contents will be posted in the room at all times. Each assignment will be a numbered entry. Each entry should be numbered at the top center of your paper. Entries should be kept in order. Notebooks will be collected after each unit of study. Each notebook is worth 100 points.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM:

Many assignments will be posted and completed in Classroom throughout the year.

TESTS:

Tests will be given at the end of each unit of study. Tests will be a variety of matching and multiple choice. Tests will be announced several days in advance to allow students to study and prepare. Each test is worth 100 points.

QUIZZES:

Quizzes will be given in each unit on vocabulary and/or cover material from one or more lessons to check for understanding. These will always be announced at least one day in advance. Each quiz is worth 100 points.

PROJECTS / AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT:

Each nine weeks you will have at least one project due. There will usually be some student choice. You will have at least one week from the time it is assigned to work on it. Some projects will be done on your own time while the authentic assessments will be completed in class. If you have problems finding information or gathering materials you need to let me know immediately- not the date it is due. Each project is worth 100 points.

HOMEWORK:

You will be assigned homework several times a week which is due on time. I don’t accept late homework. Each assignment will be worth 10 points. Your homework will count 10% of your average for the nine weeks.

GROUPS:

You will work in groups throughout the year. Success will be determined by how group members work together, how well you stay on task, and what you turn in as your final product. Groups will be reorganized each nine weeks.
