Task: -You will create 5 “trading cards” for absolute monarchs

-You will write 1 formal paragraph

Time: -you will have 5 class days to complete this project – 10/17-10/21 – and the final project (trading cards and paragraph) will be due at the start of class on Monday, October 24.

Trading Card Directions: We will provide the cards for you – from a list of 8 Absolute Monarchs, you have to choose 5 that you would like to study. For each trading card, you must include the following:

-FRONT OF CARD:

-Name of Monarch

-Picture of monarch (extra points if you draw them) with color added

-Country of Monarch

-BACK OF CARD:

-Monarch Name

-Country

-years of reign

-spouse(s)

-child(ren)

-one positive event during his/her reign

-one negative event during his/her reign

-“Nickname” you would give this monarch based on what you have learned – MUST be school appropriate! (can not use the same nickname for multiple monarchs!)

Paragraph Directions: Type a paragraph (AT LEAST 5 SENTENCES) about the monarch that you found the most interesting. In this paragraph, you should include a main idea sentence and EXPLAIN at least 3 specific reasons why you chose this monarch. Be sure that spelling and grammar are correct!

Trading Card Rubric:

-each card is worth 10 points

-2 points for neatness on the Front

-1 point for each piece of information on the back – must be included and correct to earn the point! (8 points)

-5 trading cards = 50 points
