Ms. Bradstreet – Room 143

STMS: (717) 657-5125

Welcome to System 44! I am excited about our journey together this year! Together, our class family will work to improve reading comprehension and writing skills and to develop a genuine pleasure in reading and writing.

System 44 Course Description:

System 44 is an intensive reading and writing intervention program that aims to raise student reading and writing levels, as well as academic achievement. It includes the following components:

 Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI)

The Scholastic Reading Inventory is a computer-based test that assesses student reading level for program placement. The students will take the test several times throughout the year to measure progress.

Phonics Inventory

The Phonics Inventory is a computer-based test designed to determine if the root cause of reading difficulty is decoding. It is used for program placement and to measure progress throughout the year.

 Small and Whole Group Instruction

Teacher-led mini-lessons focus on reading strategies and skill practice, and quizzes are given to measure student understanding.

Adaptive Technology

Students use adaptive technology to practice reading comprehension, fluency, spelling, writing, and decoding skills. Lessons are customized for each student and provide immediate, corrective feedback.

 Independent Reading

Students select leveled books at their independent reading level, and chart their progress in a reading log. Writing activities accompany each book, and students complete these activities as they are reading. After completing a book and its writing activities, students take a computer-based quiz to test their understanding of the book.
