At Maltman’s we are very proud of all our girl’s achievements and successes throughout the school. As a school which finishes at 11, we make it our business to support girls and their parents through the Senior School entry process. For the girls, this means that their curriculum is crafted to ensure that they are prepared for the schools chosen by their parents. We keep a close eye on changes to the process both in terms of Bucks 11+ entry and the Independent school entrance exams. We are constantly striving to improve and personalise the preparation to maximise the girls’ chances of showing what they are capable of. This includes running additional classes for certain exams, interview preparation and scholarship sessions. We are sensitive to the emotional aspects of success and work in partnership with parents to give the girls a positive environment the girls as they face challenges.

Assisting parents as they consider their daughter’s future, starts when parents are ready. Our support can be as involved or light touch as parents want and will depend of their experience with siblings and degree of local school knowledge. I spend a considerable proportion of my time working with parents to refine their choices and find the best fit options for them and their daughter. This is rarely a straightforward process and also involves Mr Hammond and Mrs Clifford, who as deputies, have a wealth of experience and insight. We three make sure that we visit senior schools, welcome staff from schools to Maltman’s and maintain an excellent rapport with schools to facilitate the entry process. Maltman’s girls are known for their personal qualities such as perseverance and resilience as much as for their academic prowess. Over the years, this benefits each new cohort as their predecessors have paved the way with their success in the senior schools they enter.

Our results speak for themselves. Our pupil intake is typical of a non-selective school, yet our outcomes are those of a selective school. We constantly ask ourselves which element of the Maltman’s experience is responsible for this and have reached the conclusion that it is the whole and no one aspect. We are inordinately proud of all that our girls achieve. It is humbling to watch them embrace their future with such enthusiasm, enjoyment and hard work.
