Grading

Grades will be based on points earned from homework and projects, tests and quizzes, class and group participation. Please keep in mind that poor spelling and grammar on written work will lower your grade. Grades are not rounded.

Health Classroom Expectations

Students are expected to:

  1. Becourteous and respectful to allclassmates, teachers and guests. There will be no swearing, name-calling or interrupting of others.
  2. Be in your assigned seat when the bell rings.
  3. Backpacks/bags under desk when bell rings.
  4. Electronic devices silenced and off when entering classroom.
  5. Necessary materials on your desk.
  6. Only drink water. Noother drinks in class. NO GUM!
  7. Remove all hats, hoods, and beanies when entering the class.

Classroom Procedures

  1. Students will be in their assigned seat and ready to work when the bell rings.
  2. Students must come to class with the necessary materials (see below) and any assignments or projects that are due.
  3. All assignments and projects are due at the beginning of class on the due date.

Late Work Policy-

  1. Each student will receive two “late passes” per semester. A “late pass” allows a student to turn in a homework assignment one day late for full credit. All other late assignments will receive 60% credit. Any late work must be turned in before the end of a progress reporting period.
  2. Students are responsible for getting any missed notes or assignments that were given during an absence. If a test or quiz is missed, it must be made up during lunch on an agreed upon date. If you suffer an extended illness, contact the teacher to discuss a schedule for you to turn in your work.
  3. All the homework is posted on the whiteboard. Students are expected to record this on theirpurple health assignment log sheet given in class or in a personal planner.

Materials Neededin class

  1. Folder with pockets - Your folder must have two pockets. This folder can be in a section in your binder but must be a separate folder from other classes.
  • You must have a folder or section in your binder just for health.
  • The folder will hold unit packets with notes, handouts and assignments.
  • Please make sure your folder contains all health work completed in health class; nothing should be thrown away until the end of a unit

2. Spiral notebook or composition notebook

  1. Pens or pencils for classwork.
  2. Markers or colored pencils for assignments and projects.
  3. White board markers are beneficial

Extra Credit

Each semester, extra credit will be offered periodically to the entire class. It is important that students take advantage of these opportunities since it will not be offered on an individual basis in order to make up for missing assignments or poor grades.
