Mrs. Christina Hall’s NewsletterNovember 26, 2012

Way to Soar, Eagles!

*Congratulations to Shelby for earning a Groovy Go Getter Award! 

Save the Date!

*Family/Staff Conferences (formerly known as Parent/Teacher Conferences) will be on Thursday, November 29th from 3-6 p.m. If you signed up for a time, please look for your confirmation in today’s folder. Since Mrs. Frazier and I share students for reading and math, we are doing our conferences together. There were several requests for the same time, so we had to adjust some requested times. If this time does not work for you, please let us know by tomorrow so we can make another plan to accommodate you.

*Christmas Program will be December 17 at 6 p.m. All classes will be participating. More information coming soon!

*No school December 20-January 1 for Christmas Break & New Year’s.

*Christmas Parties: For the past several years, we have opted not to do classroom Christmas parties with gift exchanges to save the financial burden of one more thing for families to have to purchase. Instead, we do schoolwide all-day Reindeer Games for the students. This has been a huge hit in years past and we look forward to doing it again this year!

Mid-terms

Thanks for promptly signing and returning your child’s mid-term report. Please find an extra copy for you to keep for your records in today’s folder. If you haven’t returned the original, please do so as soon as possible. Thanks!

Scootpad.com

Please find in today’s folder sign-in information for a website called scootpad.com. If you have internet access, this is a great website that has reading and math activities that reinforce what your child may be learning at school. I have each student’s account set-up. All you have to do is follow the simple sign-in procedures and your child will be ready to play! This is completely optional…it is a great resource we will also be using in class from time-to-time. 

This Week, I Can…

Reading- I can blend sounds to read words in a sentence. I can divide spoken compound words into two separate words. I can read sight words of & have. I can isolate individual syllables in spoken words. I can read Reading Practice 6 words. I can tell the setting of a story.

Writing- I can draw and write about a topic. I can write a list.

Science- I can classify things as either living or nonliving. I can name things that living things need (food, water, air, shelter). I can tell how living and nonliving things can change.

Please cut off the bottom slip, sign and return to school along with your child’s Monday folder. Your child will receive 2 extra Eagle Bucks!

I have read Mrs. Hall’s Monday Newsletter (11/26/12).
