Dear Mr. Robinson:
My name is Tammy Toren and I own 3 teen-oriented retail stores called Plato's Closet. I have a store in Schaumburg, Skokie and in Lincoln Park in Chicago. We had Terry Arya our public relations person connect the school to explore any other partnership opportunities available at Gordon Tech High School. I was told that you would be a great person to contact.
We have a goal to make our affiliation with local High Schools one that is beneficial to the students, staff and administrators at the high schools as well as to Plato's Closet. We'd love to become involved with your school through positive reward and recognition based programs, fundraising and D.E.C.A & FCCLA programs. Here are some of my ideas:
1. Making class presentation on any topic like "What it's like to be an entrepreneur", “Fashion Merchandising”, "Teen shopping trends," "What makes a good employee," "Marketing & Advertising," etc. Power point presentations can be based on any class need and curriculum. Possibly a marketing project (i.e. marketing to high school students) and providing rewards for participation.
2. School clubs selling Plato's Closet gift cards to sell...with the understanding that a certain percentage of the sales will go back to the school as a fundraiser.
3. Coordinating a school spirit day to give students who come in to our store wearing the school colors a special school discount or a chance to win a prize. Plato's Closet can make the school spirit day tied to a school event promoting school spirit (a pep rally, homecoming game day, etc.)
4. Participating in job shadowing programs to allow students to job shadow in our store for first hand experience in the retail industry. Working with interns for help with local marketing, store projects, and other campaigns.
5. Fashion merchandising and visual display opportunities inside the store to give hands on experience in merchandising products with the use of clothes, props, etc.
6. Sponsoring/advertising in a school program, play, club, dance, etc.
