The following is a summary of the Proposed Revisions to the ADHS/DBHS Covered Behavioral Health Services Guide, Version 8.5. A follow-up memorandum containing the final revisions to the Guide will be distributed and final revisions will be posted to the ADHS/DBHS website on October 1, 2013. PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE PROPOSED REVISIONS MAY NOT BECOME FINAL REVISIONS.
Covered Behavioral Health Services Guide
Entire Guide
The Arizona Department of Health Services revised the rules to integrate behavioral health into health care institutions. The implementation date for the new rules is October 1, 2013. ADHS is working with the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) on the impact of the integrated rules on billing guidelines. The ADHS/DBHS Covered Behavioral Health Services Guide will be updated as decisions are made. Please see the ADHS Integrated Licensing Rules Implementation Web page for further information about the new rules and licensing changes for behavioral health facilities.
I.F. Billing for Services
1. “The values listed throughout the Covered Behavioral Health Services Guide...” language has been added to include the B2 Appendix.
II.D.6. Unskilled Respite Care
1. Statements referencing Community Service Agencies (CSAs) have been removed as CSAs can no longer provide respite.
2. Billing Limitation number 7 has been added stating CSAs cannot provide respite services.
Appendix B-2, ADHS/DBHS Allowable Procedure Code Matrix:
1. Removal and addition of other service codes, valid provider types, and valid places of service will be updated to be consistent with PMMIS.
