FADE IN:

INT.LECTURE ROOM - DAY

A computer science lecture is taking place with all the STUDENTS seated and taking notes. CHRISTINE, a 41 year old female lecturer goes over to a desk at the front of the room and picks up a large pile of handouts. She gives them to a student seated in front of her.

CHRISTINE

(to student)

Take one and pass them along.

The student proceeds to do this. The handouts eventually rest on the desk of a pretty girl called GEORGIA who like much of the class is in her 20s. Georgia takes one handout and puts the rest on the desk behind her where anIndian student called RAJ is sitting. Georgia smiles at Raj as she does this and he reciprocates.

RAJ

Thanks, Georgia.

GEORGIA

That’s alright.

CHRISTINE

(to class)

This is your first assignment

for this semester. If you have

any questions then either come

to my office or send me an email.

OK?

The class acknowledge and begin packing their books away and leaving the lecture room.

CHRISTINE(CONT’D)

Oh, Raj. I’m free this afternoon

at 3 if you want to discuss your

project.

RAJ

Yeah OK, I’ll see you then.

Raj puts his books into his bag and then gets up and leaves.

INT.CHRISTINE’S OFFICE - DAY

There are piles of books and folders everywhere next to a series of filing cabinets. Raj and Christine are embracing each other and kissing by a desk with a computer on it. Raj is strongly attracted to the intelligent older woman but manages to pull away for a moment.

RAJ

What about your husbandChristine?

CHRISTINE

I don’t care about him. He doesn’t

give me any attention.

She continues kissing Raj. Raj reciprocates but then pulls away again.

RAJ

Look is this really going to go

anywhere? I don’t want to be just

a bit of fun for you.

CHRISTINE

You’re not. I love you.

RAJ

Then leave your husband.

Christine pulls away from Raj.

CHRISTINE

You know I can’t.

RAJ

Why?

CHRISTINE

I don’t love him anymore but we

have so much history together. We

have a son. I can’t just get up and

go.

RAJ

Well, I’m not going to wait forever.

Raj picks up his bag and heads for the door.

CHRISTINE

What about your project?

RAJ

Some other time.

Raj opens the door and leaves.

INT. COMPUTER ROOM - DAY

Raj is sitting at a computer struggling with a computer program. Georgia is sitting next to him and notices his mild distress. She looks at Raj’s computer screen.

GEORGIA

Is everything OK, Raj?

RAJ

I can’t get it to compile.

(pointing at the screen)

I’m sure the problem is on this

line though.

GEORGIA

Let me have a go.

Georgia leans over to Raj’s keyboard, deletes the line of text and types in some new code.

GEORGIA(CONT’D)

Try that.

Raj manages to compile his program.

RAJ

Thanks.

GEORGIA

That’s alright.

Georgia smiles at Raj and continues working on her own computer. Raj looks at Georgia and realises she is always good to him.

INT. LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE - DAY

Raj is in the library looking for a computer book to help him with his assignment. He picks one out, opens it and starts flicking through it. He hears WHISPERING from two female STUDENTS sitting behind him.

STUDENT#1

I heard he’s having an affair

with Christine.

STUDENT#2

Come off it. What would he see

in her.

STUDENT#1

I don’t know but a friend of

mine saw them together.

STUDENT#2

Really?

STUDENT#1

Yeah.

STUDENT#2

Well, some people will do anything

to get a first.

The students LAUGH as Raj feels humiliated overhearing them.

INT.CHRISTINE’S OFFICE - DAY

Raj is sitting opposite Christine at her desk. Christine is making corrections to Raj’s dissertation.

CHRISTINE

(looking at the dissertation)

I’ve made some changes to the

introduction. I think you’ll need

to expand the conclusion though.

RAJ

OK. Thanks.

CHRISTINE

(smiling)

I’m alone this weekend. Do you want

to come over?

RAJ

I can’t. I’ve got another two

assignments to do as well as this.

CHRISTINE

Come on. It’ll be fun.

RAJ

That’s all I am to you, a bit of fun.

CHRISTINE

That’s not true.

RAJ

I think its about time we went back

to keeping our relationship professional.

CHRISTINE

(disappointed)

That’s not what I want.

RAJ

It’s what I want.

Raj picks up his dissertation, puts his bag on his shoulder and leaves the office.

INT. CORRIDOR - DAY

Raj spots Georgia walking down the corridor and runs up to her.

RAJ

Georgia.

GEORGIA

Hey, you alright?

RAJ

Yeah. I’m having trouble with an

assignmentand I was wondering if you

could help me?

GEORGIA

Yeah, OK.

RAJ

Great. Do you want to go for a drink

first?

GEORGIA

Yeah, I’d love to.

Raj and Georgiasmile at each other and continue walking down the corridor together.

FADE OUT.
