Fallon Physical Education Philosophy
Fallon students will understand concepts and state standards in physical educationby providing all students with knowledge, skills, and experiences in body development, opportunities for obtaining and assessing their individual skills, development of personal health/fitness plans, and skills and strategies in activities for lifelong participation and maintenance of well being.
Policies and Procedures
Grading
Will be based on the following:
- Participation & effort in class activities/sports(See Rubric on Web Site)
- Cardiovascular test (See Run Day Grading Charts on Web Site)
- Skill tests and written work
Each category is worth 33% of the students’ grade.
Dress Policy
- Students must be dressed in the proper Fallon Physical Education uniform (Fallon shirt or sweat shirt with Fallon shorts or sweats) and athletic shoes everyday. Students must have the entire uniform on to count as dressing out for the day. Girls may not tie their t-shirt and no one is allowed to have saggy shorts. Furthermore, students may not wear their P.E. clothes over their “regular” clothes. They must “change”.
- No excessive jewelry is allowed in class.
- Hats, water bottles, and sunscreen are recommended for your benefit, but not required.
Absences & Notes from Home & Medical Excuses
- Students who are in class but can not fully participate in physical activity that day will be given a written PE assignment or alternative activity to complete in class for participation points.
- Students who are absent will be required to make up that participation time out side of class and complete the absence activity log.
- Medical Excuses:CaliforniaState Law requires a doctor’s release note for a student who has missed threeconsecutive days of physical education due to illness or injury. Students who are out for longer than three days will also be given written assignments on various physical education related topics.
Off Campus Run
Students will be running off campus on selected running days throughout the school year. Your child will be supervised at all times by at least one teacher. To ensure safety, your child will only be running on the side walk and will never cross a street. Students will be expected to respect personal property and remain with the class at all times off campus. The consequence for poor behavior or the inability to stay with the class will result in the student staying on campus for the run day.
