Lone Star Symphonic Band Plans Concert Based on Movie and Television Music

September 7th, 2010. Houston, Texas. The Lone Star Symphonic Band has planned a concert based on music heard in Movie scores and in Television programs, cartoons, and commercials. The concert, titled, “Where Did That Come From?” is slated for Sunday, October 3rd, 2010 at the James E. Taylor High School Performing Arts Center. James E. Taylor High School is located at 20700 Kingsland Blvd, just south of I-10 between Fry Rd. and Westgreen Blvd.

The concert will begin at 4:00 pm, and tickets are available on the Band’s website – www.lonestarsymphonicband.com for $5.50 each, and will available at the door the day of the concert for $10 each. The Band will also be offering 2010-2011 Season Tickets and 2011 Entertainment Books for sale during intermission,

Selections on the program order include “Creepy Classics” arranged by Robert Foster, “Toccata and Fugue” by Johann Sebastian Bach, selections from “William Tell Overture” by Giacchino Rossini, “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin, “Blue Tango” by Leroy Anderson, and selections from “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff.

Founded in 1993 as the West Houston Concert Band, the Band was renamed in 2002 to reach out to more of the Houston Metropolitan area. In the summer of 2005, the Band entered into a joint venture with Houston Community College – Spring Branch Campus, offering the band as a course for credit to HCC students interested in performing with an ensemble. The Band is under the direction of Mr. Bob Bryant.
