MPs support UK business with new club ties from Moodys and UKFT

“One Industry, One voice”

Leading industry body the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT)and fashion accessories specialist Moodys have been backed by a group of MPs from The Forty Club which has been presented with specially commissioned ties and scarves.

The Forty Club is a group of Conservative MPs whose aim is to dismiss usual Conservative stereotypes and come together to push the government on several issues, but most importantly on jobs. The UKFT, which is the voice for the UK fashion industry to government, facilitated Moodys tie-up with the club to create ladies scarves and silk ties for the forty members.

Moodys is a family-run business which has a growing reputation for quality and quirky countryside-inspired ties which are where possible, sourced and manufacturedin the UK. The ties given to the MPswere manufactured in Rainham, Kent with the silk woven in Sudbury in Suffolk.

Moodys director Steven Clarke said: “This was a great honour for Moodys and it is fantastic to get support from these MPS for a growing business that is passionate about all things British and a great supporter of UK manufacturing.”

MP for Warrington South and member of The Forty Club David Mowat said: “As Members of Parliament we have a duty to lead from the front when it comes to promoting British manufacturers. Many of these companies are SMEs whose margins are tight and if we don’t use them, we could, quite literally, lose them. I am delighted to be “flying the flag” for British manufacturing and I can assure you we will be wearing our ties with pride in the Chamber.”

Men’s ties and women’s scarves were handed out to the members of The Forty Club at the House of Commons. This is part of the UKFT’s wider push to promote UK manufacturing which began with its Let’s Make it Here Campaign last year.
