Opening Movie Maker

Importing elements e.g. sound, video

Once Moviemaker is open you first need to import all the different elements into the Moviemaker project.

·  Click on Import video to import any videos that you have created into your project

·  Import picture by clicking on import picture

·  Import sound by clicking on import sound

The elements you have imported should appear in your Collection

Creating your video – the Movie Maker Interface

You are currently on the storyboard view

1.  Images and videos should be dragged and dropped into the big boxes

2.  To add video effects first click on Video effects under the section 2. Edit Movie.

a.  Video effects should be dragged and dropped into the stars inside each picture/Video

3.  To add video transisitons first click on Video transitions under the section 2. Edit Movie.

a.  Video transitions should be dragged and dropped into the small boxes between each picture/Video

4.  To add sound you need to go to the Timeline view

a.  Click on Show TimeLine

b.  Drag and Drop your music into the section called Audio/music

c.  You can make the music shorter by clicking on it and dragging it back to the left.

5.  To add narration (you talking over your movie). Click on the microphone

Narrating the video

a.  Click on Start Narration and start recording your voice when you have finished click on Stop Narration

b.  You must save your work as a wav file in an appropriate folder.

6.  Adding title and credits

a.  Click on Show Storyboard and under 2. Edit Movie click on Make titles or credits

Decide where you want your title to go in the movie

Click on the appropriate option. Type in your text and then change the animation, change the colour and click on Done, add title to movie

You can move the text to where you want it to go by clicking on it and movie it under the image or video that you want it to appear on.

You can also change/edit the text by double-clicking on it.

Once you have completed the movie you need to save it as both a project and a wmv file to be viewed on any computer.

Saving the Moviemaker as a project

Click on File>Save Project as

Exporting the movie as a .wmv file

Under 3. Finish Movie click on Save to my computer

Give new movie a name and then click on browse to find where you want to save the movie.

Click on OK

Next

Then next again

It will now start exporting your movie as a wav file.

Now click on Finish.

You should now have two files in your folder:

·  one is the Movie Maker project which you can go back and finish and

·  the other is the wmv file that you can watch on any computer but you can not change as it is the finished file.
