On [Insert date and time], MoveOn.org Political Action members will deliver petitions to [insert target] demanding that [he/she] declare support for a constitutional amendment to reverse decisions like the Supreme Court’sCitizens Unitedruling, which grants corporations the right to spend unlimited money influencing our elections.
Since CitizensUnited, waves of corporate cash, Super PACs, and secret spending have begun to flood our democracy.According to ABC News, “Super PACs are unwelcome guests at the 2012 election party,” and “seven in 10 Americans say these private, campaign-spending organizations should be illegal.”
The petition delivery in [insert city/town] is part of a nationwide effortleading into the 2012 general election to gain support for permanently removing big money from politics.To date, [insert number] of citizens across [insert state] have signed the MoveOn.org petition calling on elected officials to “support a constitutional amendment to get big money out of politics.” And as a result of the petition, 97 elected officials thus far have announced they support an amendment.You can view the petition, which has over 159,000 signatures nationally, here:
