Mound City R-2 BOE Report-----

In the communication sectionMs. Emily Schomaker (MS Language Arts) and Mrs. Beth Graves (Elem/MS Counselor) forwardedwritten information as part of Staff Input. The boardalso reviewedthe Certification and Drug Free Schools Reports.

During consent agenda, the boardapprovedthe minutes of the October 17thmeeting, a financial report, and to hold a board election on April 3rd,2018. The December meeting will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11thafter the Christmas Open House Dinner.

The board gave formal approval to become the new fiscal agent for the Area Cooperative for Educational Support for the special education needs of the 19 schools involved. In that motion the board approved two salary schedules for educational diagnosticians and social workers.

Two board policies concerning students in foster care and homeless students were approved. Both policies were mandatory through legislation. These are available in each office or on the school website.

Mrs. Hall reportedon Parent/Teacher Conference participation rates were 100% Elementary and 82% Middle School. During staff in-service faculty worked on the newly adopted English/Language Arts(ELA) standards for implementation in classrooms and Missouri Model District efforts. This included better ways to close the learning gaps in ELA.

Mr. Miles mentioned that 79% of the high school students are on the honor roll. Parent/Teacher Conferences were October 19th with a 54% participation rate. A student focus group was formed to discuss possible changes in the HS environment. The Volleyball Team finished with a record of 20-12 and the Football Team 8-2. Bayleigh Portmanwas selected to All-State in Volleyball. The Cross Country Boys Team finished 15th at State and Emma Derr receivedAll-State finishing in 2th place out of 154 runners! The Junior High basketball teams will compete in the 275 tournament the week of December 4th. The Mound City Tournament is set up for the week after Thanksgiving.The Scholar Bowl practices have started.

Mr. Eaton discussed the retrieval of bleachers from Wentworth Academy is almost complete. Sidewalks for the new north parking lots are under construction. He also mentioned the changes to the State Board of Education and the uncertainty of Missouri Education.

The board approved the minutes of the Maymeeting. Preliminary teacher evaluations were also discussed.
