In the last section, I discussdiscussed Gothic Artart and its effects on the literature (the Chaucer problem). Gothic art, as previously mentioned, ledgave way to the Renaissance Art. art. It started with the Italian Renaissance, and continuedcarried on to go to all the lower countriesspread throughout the Low Countries in the form of the Northern Renaissance.

The Renaissance is normally supposed to have lasted from 1400’s approximately to 1650’s. Naturally, in the 1400s to the 1600s. Of course, in its initial stages, the Gothic art and the Renaissance art co-existed in several places. The word Renaissance itself means the ' “rebirth '” (rinascimento in Italian). This was inventedThe term was coined by the French historian Jules Michelet.

The Renaissance Era was a time of change. Rural habitats were to become fast becoming urban, thanksowing to improving of industrial conditionconditions and growinga burgeoning middle class of tradesmantradesmen and bankers. The nobility existed, but used wielded less power. Many historical events helped formshape this era: The invention of the inventions such as the magnetic compass (consequentlyhence more exploration), the invention of the gunpowder (initially used by the Chinese at the beginning,and then brought to Europe, consequently developed art of the war), the invention of thus developing the art of warfare), and mass print, etc..ing. The fall of Constantinople in 1453 made it possible to theallowed Greek scholars to travel and bring the Greek and Latin manuscripts to Italy. The coreessence of the Renaissance movement was Humanism, a philosophy very often summarizedsummed up in the words of the Greek philosopher Protagoras: “ the "Man is a the measure of all things.”". ItThis was a renewalrevival of the ancient Greek and Roman celebration of the human form. The medieval period had useddrawn upon the classics to corroborate the catholicCatholic ideology. The Renaissance used drew upon the classics to godelve further in theinto philosophy, the reason, the intelligence, and the taste. The Renaissance, as such, was a rebirth of golden erathe Golden Era of Greece and Rome in Europe.
