COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT

ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER

EDUCATION AND WASTE MANAGEMENT

Salary: R209058 .85– R230814 .12 per annum (Excluding all benefits)

Requirements: An appropriate recognized Bachelor’s degree in Environmental and Natural Science · One (1) year minimum experience in Environmental and Natural Science · Experience in facilitation of public facilitation process · Good communication and report writing skills · A valid code 8 driver’s license · Knowledge of Environmental management and specifically Waste management legislation.

Key Performance Areas: Implement waste minimization and recycling strategies for domestic, industrial and commercial sectors · Develop partnerships with key government Departments and other interested parties in the promotion of waste minimization/reduction · Implement/co-ordinate waste minimization campaigns · Co-ordinates all recycling and waste minimization programs in Hibiscus Coast Municipality by liaising with public, private companies and other government departments. · Perform waste education functions · Investigates and keeps up to date with the information on waste minimization and recycling.

SUPERVISOR – MECHANIC VERGE CUTTING EQUIPMENT

Salary: R174730 .60 – R203931 .24 (Excluding all benefits)

Requirements: Grade 12 · Qualified Diesel and Motor Mechanic · Must have undergone a Trade Test in Motor Mechanic & N3 in Diesel and Motor Mechanic · Knowledge of Hydraulics and Electrical · 5 years experience in the repairs of verge cutting equipment · Code 14 Drivers License · Related experience in local government environment will an added advantage · Knowledge of rules and laws governing municipalities · Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act · Previous relevant experience in repairs and maintenance of vehicles will be an added advantage.

Key Performance Areas: Attending to all verge cutting equipment repairs · Identifying mechanical defects · Ability to do estimation of costs of repairs · Verifying repairs being done by service providers · Oversee Human Resource issues · Oversee maintenance of the equipment · Compiling programmes and responsible for the execution of daily, weekly and monthly programmes · Completion of time books · Issuing protective clothing and ensuring proper use of protective clothing as per the occupational health and safety regulation · Report writing · Financial Management.

HUMAN SETTLEMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE DEPARTMENT

SUPERINTENDENT – ROADS

Salary: R236041 .22 – R260646 .21 per annum (Excluding all benefits)

Requirements: Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent · Computer Literacy · At least 3 years relevant experience in the road and storm water construction and maintenance field · Code B Drivers License.

Key Performance Areas: The incumbent will be responsible for proper plan, prioritize and schedule roads and storm water projects and maintenance work · Implementation of entrepreneurial development programme according to KPA · Responsible for specialized roads and storm water maintenance functions · Required to work in all weather conditions · Required to work extra hours during emergencies · Be required to be on standby.

GRADER OPERATOR

(3 POSTS)

Salary: R111450 .33 – R125251 .31 per annum (Excluding all benefits)

Requirements: Grade 10 · Special Grader License or Code 14 License · Previous experience in grading of roads is essential · Knowledge of municipal operations · Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act · Ability to communicate in English and IsiZulu.

Key Performance Areas: Operating grader · Grade gravel roads · Grade roads to finer levels for construction · Control and supervise staff · Maintain grader in good working conditions · Be able to operate and drive other equipment as and when required.
