Morristown Summer Recreation Council ~ Meeting Minutes

October 27, 2014

  1. Budget

Budget completed for 4/1/15-3/31/16. There was an overall profit this year which will be carried forward to next budget period. Asking town for $10,000 this year (has been $13,475 in prior years) and will use profit to offset difference. Program fees will remain the same. Amy would like someone to attend the selectboard meeting with her on November 19th. Jen is unable to attend as she will be away.

  1. Food Program

We will use the food program again this year, but will require children to either bring a bag lunch or purchase food (where available) on field trip days. We can have food items on hand (peanut butter, jelly, bread, granola bars, etc.) just in case there are children who show up and can do neither. Pizza day is weekly. We either need to have access to the oven in the kitchen or another option is for the rec program to walk over to MES to eat with MASP and have the bus for Elmore pick them up there. If we do the latter, we will not have to worry about cooking. Either way, can pizza day be the same day every week for planning purposes?

  1. Bussing

If using LVT again next year, we’d like to request Tammy Judkins as our driver.

  1. Field Trips

For the Twin City Lanes trip, we need to look into the pool that is in Barre next to the park where the rec group ate last year. Is this open to the rec program? If so, what is the cost?

  1. Sponsor Letters

These need to be ready to go by 3/1.

  1. Staffing

We need to hire an assistant director to relieve Charity of end-of-day responsibilities. We need to replace two counselors. Also need more lifeguards (is JSC offering a course?) and more subs.

  1. Monthly Meeting

We will be having a monthly meeting at the town clerk’s office. What day works best for everyone? We’d like to keep the day consistent from month-to-month. Would the second Monday of every month work?
