Required Materials:

2” or 2½ ” binder, dividers, scientific calculator, red and black ink pens, pencils, paper

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The student will

1. Compare and contrast various models of the atom.

2. Investigate the basic organization of the modern periodic table.

3. Describe models of the atom and investigate the composition of the nucleus.

4. Relate the spectral lines of an atom’s emission spectrum to the transition of electrons between different energy levels within an atom.

5. Investigate the characteristics of matter.

6. Explore the interactions of matter and energy.

7. Investigate chemical bonding.

8. Analyze chemical reactions.

9. Apply the mathematics of chemical formulas and equations.

10. Investigate the characteristics of solutions and acids and bases.
