Morrill Road light pole banner application
Morrill Road, from Osborn Drive to Union Drive, is part of the university’s closed, pedestrian-friendly, central campus. Motor vehicles are admitted through a key card and on-site permission system. CyRide also follows a route down Morrill Road.
Goals:
To enhance the pedestrian and visitor experience of central campus by promotinguniversity or university unit public events on campus.
Qualified applicant:
An official university unit or student organization
Banner content:
Must promote a public university event or celebration (examples: Homecoming, Alumni Days, Greek Week, Business Week, Residence Hall Week, Ag Week, Engineers Week, major anniversary event of a unit, artistic performance or exhibition, Fashion Show, major non- political candidates speakers)
Banners should be a supplementary way to promote a university event, not the only way. Applicant must submit plan for how the event or celebration will be promoted, in addition to the banners.

Year-round
Number of banner poles and location:13 poles
1 banner per pole
Poles 1,2,3,4 and 5 are reserved for Christian Petersen Art Museum exhibitions and events
Banner poles required per applicant: 4 or 8
Banner size: 90” high x 30” wide
Banner construction:
Two-sided, up to 4 colors, 2 grommets located on one side of banner directly below the top sleeve and above the bottom sleeve pocket, “ green” fabric or 22 oz. blackout vinyl
Banner production:
The Office of University Marketing will provide art to banner company for production 5 weeks prior to installation. Banners will be delivered to Campus Service. Banner sponsor will be responsible for measuring banners at Campus Services to confirm they meet specifications prior to installation.
Length of display:
Minimum 2 weeks
Maximum 1 month
Installation and removal:
Campus Services will install and remove banners. Banner sponsor must submit work order with dates and account number.
Maintenance of banner hardware:
The university is responsible for maintaining or replacing banner hardware.
Banner content and design approval:
Must include date/s of event
Design must work within the university’s banner template
Preferably, design is created with the assistance of the Office of University Marketing or can be submitted to the office for approval prior to production. The marketing office will prepare final art to submit to banner production vendor.
Insurance:
If banners will be re-used, insurance is recommended. Contact risk management office for prices and terms.
Storage:
Banner sponsor is responsible for storage
Disposal:
The Office of University Marketing has a program in which old banners can be made into tote bags that the University Book Store sells. Net proceeds from the bag sales is used for the university’s overall banner program.
