More Information About Prof. Kishore G. Kulkarni

Kishore G. Kulkarni is the Distinguished Professor of Economics at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, Denver, Colorado. As an Adjunct Professor, he has taught at the University of Colorado-Boulder, Korbel School of International Studies- University of Denver, Colorado State University and Colorado School of Mines. Prof. Kulkarni completed B.A. (Economics) and M.A. (Economics) degrees from the University of Poona, India with the Outstanding Student (First and Second Ranks respectively) in Economics Awards. He migrated to the U.S.A. in 1976 and completed M.A. (Economics) and Ph.D. (Economics) degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. His extra-ordinary teaching skills have brought him several teaching laurels including 2001 Outstanding Teaching Award by the Golden Key International Honor Society, inclusion of his biography in Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers (1998). His simple and humorous teaching style made him popular to get selected in the Spring 1994 voyage of the Semester at Sea Program. He has also delivered many special lectures all over the world.

Dr. Kulkarni has been busy in publishing activities. He has authored and or edited (or co-authored and co-edited) eight books, some of which have become famous textbook adoptions in US and Indian universities. His new book (co-authored with Edwin Dolan) on Principles of Microeconomics will be published by Best Value Textbooks (BVTpublishing.com) in September 2014. He has written ( or co-authored) 115 refereed journal articles which have appeared in such journals as Indian Economic Journal, Indian Journal of Economics, Prajnan, Journal of Foreign Exchange and International Finance, International Journal of Development Banking, Asian Economic Review, Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives, Margin, Journal of Applied Business and Economic Research, SCMS Journal of Indian Management, Amity Business Journal, Anveshak, Asian African Journal of Economics and Econometrics and Indian Journal of Applied Economics. He has co-founded with Dr. Bansi Sawhney and organized Indian Journal of Economics and Business ( for the last 13 years. Published after every 4 months, the IJEB also organizes conferences in USA and in India. For his research activities Dr. Kulkarni was awarded Outstanding Faculty Researcher/Scholar Award by the Golden Key International Honor Society in 1997. In 2004 The Faculty Senate of the Metropolitan State University of Denver awarded him “Distinguished Service Award”, that was followed by the “Extra-ordinary Service Award” by the University President in 2010. In 2012 the Dean of School of Business, MSU-Denver recognized him as the first “Distinguished Professor” with another special award.

To carry out his research activities, he has held Visiting Research Fellowships at the National Institute of Bank Management, Pune, Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai, Reserve Bank of India (DRG Project), Mumbai, School of Communications and Management Studies (SCMS), Kochi and National Insurance Academy, Pune. He resides in Denver, Colorado with his wife Jayashree, and their daughters Lina (DDS, MS Orthodontics, and Aditi (soon to be J.D. University of Colorado)
