COURSE EXPECTATIONS:
In order to do well in this class you should meet the following expectations:

Submissions that are late will result in 5 points being deducted for everyday that is late, unless a deadline has been previously arranged with the instructor (due to exceptional circumstances). Assignments will be submitted in electronic format (unless otherwise agreed upon).
· Participation and Attendance: Daily participation is expected and integral to your success in this class and learning this content. If you are absent for a class activity/video session, you will not be allowed to make up those points. Excused absences follow the Columbia High School guidelines. Students should contact the instructor during the conference period (3:01 to 3:28) to arrangement for all make-up work. Specific deadlines will then be agreed upon with the student for all work to be handed in promptly. Participation is based on the skills you will learn and perform. You will be given multiple opportunities to work on strokes, skills and exit assessments. Attendance will be taken at the beginning and at the conclusion of the class once all students are dressed. As per board policy, a student must not exceed 5 missed classes for the quarter.
· Professional and safety behavior: You should act respectfully and responsibly in all areas of the pool and in the locker room. Any complaints of inappropriate behavior and unprofessional behavior will be dealt with severely in accordance with the Columbia High School code of conduct.

Students who arrive to class more than 10 minutes late (after attendance has been recorded at the beginning of the class) will be charged a cut. 3 T10’s will result in a 25 minute detention during the conference period on a day agreed upon teacher and student.
· Dress: Being dress for class is an expectation and not a grade. However, failure to be dressed for PE classes will result in a five point deduction. Point deduction will be reflected on the points acquired from the skill development. These points cannot be made up. Students who are unprepared will be asked to read a peer-reviewed journal article related to fitness and technology within Physical Education.
