MONDO ROCK, THE UNCANNY X MEN, PSEUDO ECHO, AND THE CHANTOOZIES STAR IN SATURDAY NIGHT EIGHTIES FLASHBACK CONCERT AND BIG BANG FIREWORKS JIM BEAM TRACKSOUNDS ON-CIRCUIT CONCERT PRESENTED BY RADIO STATION MIX102.3

The Saturday night Jim Beam Tracksounds on-circuit concert action at the 2011 Clipsal 500 Adelaide is titled the Eighties Flashback presented by RadioStation Mix102.3 and will be an 80’s revival like no other followed by the Big Bang Fireworks extravaganza also presented by Radio Mix102.3.

‘The awesome eighties artist line-up is something new for the event and is set to take the level of entertainment at the 2011 Clipsal 500 Adelaide to a totally new level’, South Australian Motor Sport Board Chairman Roger Cook said today.

The Mix102.3Eighties Flashback concert and the Mix102.3 Big Bang Fireworks display immediately following the last band encore is free to all valid Clipsal 500 Adelaide Saturday ticket-holders.

The concert was announced today by the Mix102.3 on air Breakfast team of John, Jodie & Snowywith breakfast host Snowy Carter and Brian Mannix from TheUncanny X Men and Ally Fowler from The Chantoozies appearing live at the 2011 Clipsal 500 Adelaide official launch held at the Adelaide Casino.

The Uncanny X-Men

The suburban garage band of Melbourne in 1981.

The irreverent seminal 80’s Pop/Rock band whose sold out arena shows around Australia not only achieved Gold and Platinum record sales but cemented a place in Australian music history with hit singles “Everybody Wants to Work”, “Party”, “How Do You Get Your Kicks”, “Still Waiting”, “Fifty Years”, and ”I Am”

Appearances on Countdown, which Brian Mannix hosted regularly, and Hey Hey its Saturday saw the band attract a fanatical following that made them one of the most popular Australian bands of the 1980’s.

The band's debut album 'Cos Life Hurts’ spawned a national sell out tour presented by the Frontier Touring Co, with The Uncanny X-Men being the most outrageous Aussie band of the eighties.

The band was signed by Mushroom Records in 1982 and then by Sony/CBS in 1986 they toured Australia in support of US rock act Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and also Rod Stewart.

Their second album, ‘What You Give is What You Get’ was released in 1986 and also achieved Gold status.

The last time the band performed live was 2006…with a sell out show at Crowns’ famed Mercury Lounge, and is recording new material for a release early next year to coincide with their performance at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.

Formed in 1980/81, first as a four-piece band featuring Brian Mannix, Ron Thiessen, Craig War, and John Kirk, Chuck Hargreaves later joined The Uncanny X-Men.

Pseudo Echo

Pseudo Echo pioneered the new Eighties electro-pop sound in Australia, soon establishing themselves at the top of the Australian charts with Top 10 hits such as “Listening” and “A Beat For You”from their debut gold selling album “Autumnal Park”. The band then scored their biggest worldwide hit to date with a version of Lipps Inc’s “FunkyTown”.

The band has been back on the road in Australia since a “one night only” gig at Sydney’s Club Retro on New Years Eve 1998, and now regularly play to packed houses.

The Chantoozies

One of Australia’s hottest bands The Chantoozies began touring Australia in the late 80’s, appearing on every imaginable entertainment programme in the country.

They have sold over 300,000 records, going Platinum and Gold, and recorded two

albums, the first self titled “Chantoozies” and the second “Gild the Lily”, both enjoying great success.

Singles included “Witch Queen of New Orleans”, “He’s Gonna Step On You Again”, “Wanna Be Up”, “Kiss and Tell”, “Come Back”, “Walk on”, “Love The One Your With”, and “I’ll be there”.

The Chantoozies have toured with some of Australia’s most recognised artists: Sherbet, James Reyne, Renee Geyer, Mondo Rock, Leo Sayer, Jo Jo Zep, John Paul Young, Choirboys, Noiseworks, The Bad Loves and international acts such as Billy Joel.
