Music

Mommy’s Little Music Maker (1 mo.-5 yrs.)

This 45-minute class is appropriate for all young, neuroptypical and those with special needs, and their parents. Our curriculum is prescriptively designed to engage both children and parents in age appropriate, arts-based experiences promoting early development including: fine/gross motor skills, language/ communication skills, social/emotional skills, cognitive skills, and preschool concepts. Each class will build on the foundational skills necessary to achieve new developmental milestones with Mommy and music! Because parents are their child's first teacher and most important role model, all Mommy’s Little Music Maker classes will include send home songs and activities to support generalization of skills to the home environment.

Preschool Music Maker (3-5 years), Wednesday 1:00-1:45, $120 for 10-week session

Adaptive Music Lessons (5 years and up)

Adaptive music lessons focus on musical goals. Beginning adaptive music lessons with a music therapist can often be the first step a student needs to successfully start a lifetime of musical learning. The purpose of adaptive music lessons for students with autism is to provide additional support to increase musical skills until traditional music lessons can be successful.

Music Therapy (2 years and up)

Music therapy uses music as the therapeutic stimulus to achieve non-musical treatment goals. Outcomes possible, but not limited to, may include: increased attention, decreased self-stimulation, improved cognitive functioning, increased socialization, successful self expression and improved behavior. The purpose of music therapy for students with autism is to provide the individual with an initial assist using melodic and rhythmic strategies, followed by fading of musical cues to aid in generalization and transfer to other environments.

Dance

Adapted Dance Class (3-4 years)

Our 45-minute class focuses on social, communication and gross motor skills as well as developing a foundation for dance. Dancers have the opportunity to learn various styles of dance in one class: ballet, tap and tumbling. The end of the class focuses on relaxation and centering of the mind & body. During this yoga time, dancers have the opportunity to learn techniques of deep breathing and tension release, which ultimately increases their body awareness, ability to self monitor and ability to self regulate their body.

Time 3:15-4:00, $30 per week

Adapted Dance Class (5-8 years)

Our 60-minute class focuses on social, communication and gross motor skills as well as developing a foundation for dance. Dancers have the opportunity to learn various styles of dance in one class: ballet, tap and tumbling. The end of the class focuses on relaxation and centering of the mind & body. Friday 6:00-7:00, $30 per week

Adapted Jazz/Tumbling Dance (9-13 years)

Our 60-minute class is tailored specifically to developing the dancers' skills in social, communication and gross motor, as well as developing a foundation for dance. Dancers have the opportunity to learn jazz dance style to increase their strength and flexibility.

Friday 4:00-5:00, $30 per week

Adapted Jazz Dance (14-18 years)

Our 60-minute class is tailored specifically to developing the dancers' skills in social, communication and gross motor, as well as developing a foundation for dance. Dancers have the opportunity to learn jazz dance style to increase their strength and flexibility.

Friday 5:00-6:00, $25 per week

Adapted Private Dance Lessons (5 years and up)

A private dance lesson allows the teacher to focus on the skills and needs of the dancer. We tailor private lessons to developing the dancers' skills in social, communication and gross motor, as well as developing a foundation for dance. Your family and dancer can choose the style of class: lyrical, ballet, jazz, tap, tumbling, yoga or creative movement. If there is no known preference, an exploration of various styles occurs over two classes.
