Record of Minutes – June 1, 2017

The Mohawk Valley Joint Fire District Board met in regular session on ThursdayJune 1, 2017at 7:30pm at the Fire Station. Present at the meeting was board membersScott Anthony, Buster Longo, John McCalland Bruce Weisburn. Also, present was the Fiscal Officer, Chief Marraccini and Assistant Chief Ely.

Motion made by Member Anthony, seconded by Member McCall to approve the May 18, 2017 meeting minutes as read by the board before the meeting. Member Longo votes yes.Member Weisburn votes yes.

Motion made by Member Weisburn, seconded by Member McCallto approve payment of the following bills;

Business

Motion made by Member Weisburn, seconded by Member Antony to approve the appropriation modification moving $300.00 fromaccount 1000-220-590 (other expenses) to account 1000-110-230 (worker’s compensation) Member Longo votes yes. Member McCall votes yes.

Motion made by Member Weisburn, seconded by Member Longo to renew the current Accident and Health Policy with Wichert Insurance for $1,390.00. Member Anthony votes yes. Member McCall votes yes.

Chief Report

Chief Marraccini submitted forms stating that the Fire District would be interested in a joint radio system.

Both outside signs have been made and installed by Tony Luther. Chief Marraccini thanked the Waynesburg Heritage Days Association for their donation which covered the complete cost of the both signs and the installation.

Chief Marraccini noted that financial information has been submitted to Gatchell Grant Resources for the upcoming AFG grant.

Chief Marraccini will check with Mr. Comstock regarding the acquisition of out gear from Stark State.

The Board discussed the price and benefits of purchasing an identification maker to print accountability cards for safety protocols; no decision was made.

Motion made by Member Weisburn, seconded by Member Longo to install have John Spencer install lights not to exceed $240.00 as quoted. Member Anthony votes yes. Member McCall votes yes.

Public Speaks

Linda Barnes asked if the current fire reporting system does billing. Chief Marraccini touched on the topic stating that at this time the system is not about to do billing.

Board Member Comments

Member Weisburn revisited the topic of Ohio Billing stating that there are several decisions to be made in order for things to be set in motion. Assistant Chief Ely was concerned about the additional time requirements for volunteers. Member Weisburn plans to invite Ohio Billing to the July 20th meeting.

Member McCall asked about the outcome for a recent accident on State Route 43. Chief Marraccini said there was great cooperation, Steve VanMeter of QUAD was command of scene and everything went smoothly. Randy Miller was 1st on the scene and 3 vehicles were in service.
