Module 12: Digital “Paintings”

Assignment 1: Homage Image (31 points) (hom·age ˈ(h)ämij/ noun 1. special honor or respect shown publicly.)

This project will help you develop your skills in Photoshop. Using your knowledge and additional experimentation of the filters, color settings and anything thing else that you need in Photoshop, make your photo look like the piece you selected. The steps, layers and techniques will be different for everybody! Choose one of the following ways of doing so:

·  Create a "spoof"of an artwork by changing one or more elements (final image still must be made from your original shots).

·  Take photograph(s) to manipulate that would then be VERY reminiscent of the original painting.

·  Stage a photo shoot to get an image that is much like a famous photograph.

1.  Choose your inspiration image that is considered a Master Artwork and upload to FlickR as your “Homage Inspiration.” You should avoid Abstract art styles for this assignment. Include the artist and title of this artwork.

2.  Create an homage to this image and upload to FlickR as “Homage Image.” Also upload all your original photo(s) that you used to create this image.

3.  In the Description Field, complete your Critique AND tell me what drew you to your inspiration piece (colors, subject matter, humor, etc.) and include information about the process of creating your image.

Assignment 2: Pseudo Watercolor Shoes/Feet (23 points)

Shoes have interesting shapes, colors and textures. Shoes can be very fancy and neat. Feet show where we are and where we have been. Feet are on a different perspective plane. Feet can show things that we do, activities we engage in, things we like. Feet can tell a story.

1. Take an interesting photo of feet/shoes and create a Pseudo Watercolor with it in Photoshop. Upload it to FlickR with the label “Pseudo Watercolor” and in the Description Field, complete your Critique. Also, upload the original foot photo.
