Course Objective: This course is designed to utilize a student’s geometric thinking to understand mathematical concepts; study properties and relationships of figures having to do with size, shape and location and to connect geometric ideas, relationships, and properties to solve problems. In turn, this course will enhance the student’s ability to think and reason logically (both inductively and deductively).
Curriculum Outline:
1st Six Weeks – Geometry Structure, Reasoning, Lines: Intersecting, Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
2nd Six Weeks – Lines (continued), Coordinate Geometry, Relationships in Triangles
3rd Six Weeks – Triangle Congruence (continued), Quadrilaterals and other Polygons
4thSix Weeks – Similarity and Transformations, Right Triangles
5th Six Weeks – Trigonometry, Circles, Area, Geometry of Three-Dimensional Objects
6th Six Weeks – Three Dimensional Objects (continued), Probability
Expectations:
1. Be on-time, on-task, and prepared to learn EVERYDAY.
2. Personal electronics for educational purposes only. Unauthorized use of cell phone, it will be picked up and sent to the office until a fee is paid.
3. Be responsible for your own learning.
4. RESPECT the teacher, the classroom, and other students.
