Topic: Modified Divisional Alignments

  • Greg Kaszubski from Clarence will be filling for Jim Graczyk for the time being to guide meetings.

Office Report:C. Karcher and L. Moore

  • Any changes you need please send over to us – if we run into a problem with umpires for baseball or softball you will hear from us.
  • Leane will be out of the office from April 5th until April 17th.
  • Closed dates are slowly being updated.
  • Fall schedules are being created and will be sent out as soon as possible.
  • Please remember to include both of us on emails.

Executive Secretary/Treasurer:C. Amo

  • Softball/baseball assigning – usage of other groups officials to fill slots where needed.
  • In the event of an exhausted roster Chuck Amo has received permission from other groups that the office may use their umpires in order to get game slots filled.

  • Concerns from Division 4 about the small schools position in geographic alignments.
  • ECIC Track Meet @ Hamburg – Do we have starting times?
  • 5/26 start time will be 12:00 PM.

  • Sectional Track Meet at Jamestown – do we have times yet?
  • Start time will be 12:00 PM.
  • Baseball Umpires – issues with some umpires not wanting to work ECIC games?
  • With the lack of correct information from the WNY Umpires Group, the ECIC office has been forced to look to other groups in order to have games filled. The state has already been informed of the lack of communication and effectiveness that Group 05 has provided the ECIC Office and other leagues involved.

Old Business:

  • Boys Volleyball Update: Are East Aurora and Holland combining?
  • Holland must wait for the meeting on Monday April 10th to know for sure.
  • ECIC wrestling tournament will not be held at Clarence next year.
  • Will be held at Starpoint.
  • Still need someone to host ECIC’s Cheerleading in the Winter of 2018.
  • No school has confirmed yet.
  • Charter School rep was needed – Chuck Amo volunteered until an AD is on the committee.
  • Officials contracts – any ideas for negotiations.

New Business:

  • State Modified Meeting Update – M. Librock
  • Items Approved by the NYSPHSAA Executive Committee – 1. Modified Baseball and Softball game condition has been changed. “No more than four games a week may be played” **Effective Spring 2017

2. Modified volleyball approval for extended playing time. “With section and league approval, extended playing time in modified volleyball may consist of six games per match, and the number of point per game shall be limited to 20 points in these matches”. **Effective Fall 2017 if granted sectional approval at the May 2017 meeting.

3. Modified baseball will follow the pitch count guidelines set forth by the NYSPHSAA.

  • Spring procedures for softball and baseball were sent out by email. ***Saturday cancellations will always be the Athletic Directors responsibility to notify officials.
  • An ECIC softball representative for Division 4 is needed.
  • Jeff Patronik is the representative.
  • Eden is combining with Gowanda for girls swimming and boys swimming – Voted–CARRIED
  • Please look over the turf rules that you received in an email from Clarence.
  • There will be no drink besides water allowed on the TURF fields. NO seeds, gum, candy, metal spikes, food, chairs, or anchored items.
  • Alden will be joining the Niagara Orleans league for wrestling for Winter 2017-2018.
  • East Aurora will have their Varsity wrestling team, but are looking to combine for modified.
  • Williamsville East is looking to combine with Williamsville North.
  • Alignments must be re-done

  • Officials Negotiations – The officials contract ends at the end of 2018. The process of negotiations has started as of March 2017.
  • Arbiter Pay – Officials will have the ability to sign up for Arbiter Pay. Each school will have the electronic account, and once the school “verifies” that the official has worked a game, that money will be directly taken out of the schools account and put into the officials account to pay them. **Schools may opt out and choose to write out checks for each individual official for their home games.
  • Boces 2 Training Services for Athletic Trainers
  • June 24th – Hall of Fame Golf Tournament
  • There is a girls representative needed to work alongside Matt Librock for modified sports. Please come forward with any names of women who would be applicable.
  • Combining of Schools
  • Extended Eligibility – In the event that a student claims to have been distraught either emotionally or socially, that student can be granted the chance to have extended eligibility to play for a school past the four (4) year eligibility law.
  • Hall of Fame – Section VI still needs to receive any nominations to receive this recognition.
  • Travel Policy – The finance committee has been asked to look over the Travel Policy to see if they can supply or support meals for teams on the road.
  • New Transfer Rule For APP – goes into effect this Fall 2017.
  • Football Alignments – Approved for Fall 2017
  • Pitch Count – The HOME team must keep record of the pitch count. Any school has the right to ask to see the documentation of the pitch count of any school they are competing against. There must be an original copy with the Athletic Director of each school, plus a copy for each coach to carry.
  • Banners must be put in gymnasiums of championship wins.
  • The Spaulding brand ball is what is to be purchased and used day 1 of playoffs and continued use of the Spaulding ball is to be practiced throughout all of playoff season.

Good of the Order:

  • Next Athletic Directors Meeting will be May 1st at Ilio’s.
  • Next Athletic Council Meeting will be May 10th at Erie 1 Boces in room B-2A
  • Safety Report – There are discussions on concussions.
  • No dogs are allowed at any Starpoint contest.
