Professional competences / •  appropriate use of business French terminology, according to the context/professional situation

7. Subject objectives (arising from the acquired specific competences)

7.1 Subject’s general objective / development of the language skills required for the effective use of French, in everyday life and in professional contexts by developing linguistic, discursive, strategic and socio-cultural competences
7.2 Specific objectives / students should be able:
o  to understand clear standard spoken and written messages on familiar topics (work, school, leisure etc.);
o  to understand the main points of clear messages;
o  to understand attitudes and opinions expressed in clear standard French;
o  to engage and hold conversations on various everyday and professional topics;
o  to describe clearly and fluently (orally and in writing) real or imaginary events, experiences
o  to adapt the discourse to the context (formal/informal register);
o  to produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest;
o  to write clear memos, letters, reports;
o  to summarize information, giving reasons and explanations for opinions and plans;
o  to communicate effectively in English-speaking business environments

9. Corroboration / validation of the subject’s content in relation to the expectations coming from representatives of the epistemic community, of the professional associations and of the representative employers in the program’s field.

·  the use of real case studies (only the name of the company in question is changed) is aimed at familiarizing the students with real-life concepts and situations;
by simulation and role-play students can develop the skills required for presentations, speeches, meetings;
writing documents (application letters, CVs, minutes, invoices, reports, etc.) helps students to develop their professional writing skills (very often an essential requirement for a good job in a company);

10.6 Minimum performance standard
•  It is necessary to obtain a minimum grade of 5 (five) in order to pass this subject;
•  The grades being granted are between 1 (one) and 10 (ten);
•  Students must approach each element (question, problem) within the exam sheet;
•  The written test takes approximately 120 minutes;
•  CEFR level – B1
