Charmouth Primary School

Charging and Remission Policy

'This setting will treat all people with equal
respect and concern, and will respect, value and celebrate their
individuality. Any incidents of discrimination will be recognised, recorded and
challenged in such a way as to promote a positive outcome for all.'

Every school must have, and publish for parents, its charging policy. This policy lists the governors' decisions.

Books and equipment

Books and stationery are provided free of charge.

Children may bring their own pencils, pens, calculators etc; but this is not encouraged.

Parents of pupils who lose or damage books or equipment issued to them are expected to pay the cost of replacement or repair.

Charging for materials

For cooking activities,a voluntary contribution may be requested towards ingredients.

Activities within the school day

Any payment from parents for these activities is voluntary but if parents are unable or unwilling to contribute, it may be that the activity will not be able to take place. Pupils will never be treated differently whether or not their parents have made any such payments.

Activities outside the school day

For these activities payment is required for pupils to take part.

When a club is not led by the school, e.g. Mindfulness, cheques must be payable to the person/company organising the club. Payment details will be made clear in the half termly club letters.

Requests by external organisations and individuals to run clubs are at the Headteacher’s discretion. Such clubs will be charged a fee as detailed in the School’s Letting Policy.

Photocopying

Requests for photocopying for non-school business will be charged at the following rates: A4 mono 6p per copy, A4 colour 12p per copy

Residential Visits

Payment will be required in respect of residential visits taking place mainly outside school time.

A system of staged payments will be available for residential trips for those who find it easier to pay this way.

Pupils whose families are entitled to Income Support or other qualifying benefits may be eligible to receive funding to cover the costs of board and lodging (please contact the school finance officer for further information).

Any family who wish to request help towards a residential trip due to financial hardship, should write to the Headteacher outlining the circumstances. This must be completed before the response date stated in the residential trip letter. The Headteacher and Governors will then consider the application.

Music Tuition

The Headteacher is authorised to charge for music tuition outside normal classroom activities, when permitted.

Loss and Damage to School Property

Parents of a pupil who damages or loses any item of school property or equipment, including, for example, windows or computer software, are liable for the cost of repair or replacement.
