PROCEDURE:

·  Begin looking through magazines for a collection of images that you want to use in your piece. Tear it out and then use scissors to cut around the image. If you need an x-acto knife, just ask.

·  You will need a background that covers the entire piece of chipboard. It can be multiple images of a background, and it doesn’t necessarily have to make sense.

·  Create your image from the background to the foreground. Think of size relationships. Things that are more important can be larger than normal.

·  As you become happy with your layout, begin gluing your pieces down so they don’t get lost. You must use at least 6 magazine pieces in your composition. You can also paint or draw onto of the collage to enhance certain areas.

·  Once I agree that you are finished, brush a coat of gel medium over your piece. Do not make it think or it will remain cloudy and be sure your brush is clean, or it will discolor your medium.

·  12x15 chipboard

·  Make sure you have a plan before you start! Cut everything out prior to gluing and keep them in your folder so they don’t get lost.

·  Alter pieces so they work together.

·  You can incorporate drawing and painting materials on top.
