Super Summeris a unique summer camp experience for students who have completed the 8th grade, but not yet in college. Three focus areas drive the strategy and teaching of Super Summer faculty: leadership, discipleship, and evangelism. This is not a camp for everybody! There are several difficult requirements but key among them is your proven leadership ability in yourchurch. No one is automatically enrolled!!!!!

Who can go to Super Summer?

Super Summer is for the student that is looking for a challenge. The camp was designed for the purpose of taking students and challenging them to go deeper in their faith and live out the leadership that Christ has called them to. Super Summer is not like any other camp we will go to as it challenges our students to step up and out while making a difference in their world.

Why do we have to meet requirements?

Therefore, I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you to live

worthy of the calling you have received. - Ephesians 4:1

As mentioned previously, Super Summer is not your regular camp. Super Summer is an opportunity for a believer to dive deeper into their relationship with Christ as they begin to understand leadership. The requirements exist for the student to grow as a believer and to prepare them for Super Summer. The purpose of Super Summer is to build up the next generation of leaders for Christ, rather than to just have fun and make new friends. Requirements exist as encouragement and growth opportunities for our leaders.

So, what are the Requirements?

There are a set of requirements given by the Mississippi State Baptist Convention, and because we expect our students to be above and beyond, we also have additional H-Burg requirements. We know that long lists of requirements can seem very overwhelming. So, we have compiled all of the requirements into two categories, a Super Summer Standard and an Action Requirements.

It is not about doing requirements in order to go to Super Summer. It’s about developing as a disciple and a leader inside our student ministry here at Harrisburg.

Action Challenge

(Previously known as the “God-sized Challenge”)

Each Super Summer student must complete all 3 levels of the Action Challenge. Once completed, students should submit a review sharing what they did, how they did it, and the impact that they felt from the challenge. Each student must have a parent or adult sign off confirming that the action took place.

Level 1 – Family

-Show your family some love. You can write them a noteusing scripture, cook a meal for them, clean the house, etc. Share Christs love for them and your love for them. Affirm them in being a family that aides you in your walk with Christ.

Level 2 –Church

-Serve your church. Find ways to go visit a widow, homebound member of our church, or an elderly member. Go brighten someone’s day with your company, a simple gift, or maybe even some yard work. Let them know that they are loved by their Harrisburg family. Be sure to pray for them and inform the church staff if any further assistance can be given.

Level 3 – Community

-Make a difference in your school or community. Perform “Random Acts of Kindness” to classmates, teachers, faculty, etc. Let people know that Christ loves them and that through Christ, you love them too.
