Mission Statement of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish

As the spiritual home for Catholics in the West End, we are a family of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. We are a Sunday People, remade in Baptism, nurtured by the Eucharist, and guided by the Holy Spirit. Under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we strive to share our time, talents, and treasures. We are formed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and proclaim the Kingdom of God by our words and actions.

Mission Statement ~ discussed the importance to keep in mind our mission statement begins a process that leads to our Parish Pastoral Plan broken down into our goals. Our mission statement is a summary of what we are and do as a community of Christ. Our discussions lead to the importance of each word and phrase. Because of their importance, they will need to be unpacked by our parishioners of all ages to comprehend and actualize our mission. We reviewed our listing examining their qualities within the 4 pillars of our parish (Spirituality, Faith Formation, Evangelization, and Stewardship). Deleting those unqualified, we continue to examine the following:

1)We are a Sunday People, renewed in Christ, gifted and sent. (or) …. proclaiming his Word.

2)A Sunday People under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we seek the will of God to know him and share him.

We are studying additional plans from the Office of Pastoral Planning of other Roman Catholic dioceses to examine further ideas.

Provisional Pastoral Plan ~The complete plan has been approved with the following changes in the Achieving and SMART Goals for Faith Formation:

AG#5 modified to read: “Sacrament of Reconciliation offered to parents with children yearly.” AG#8 removed, it’s included in SG#7. SG#6 removed because included in AG#5 . SG#7, now labeled as SG#6, modified to read: “Faith events and activities, involve Youth programs to create a better connection with their faith and promote a greater participation by our Youth.
