There will be one winner in each category and two runners up. The winners will receive a beautiful crown, sash, trophy and more. Everyone that enters will receive a beautiful crown pin. No one will leave empty handed.

No on stage practice will be allowed the day of the pageant.

**Contestantsshould print out Rules and Regulations from the Pageant web page prior to the day of the pageant. Rules should be adhered to and good sportsmanship is required of ALL contestants, their family and friends. Those not following rules and regulations or not displaying good sportsmanship will be disqualified and no score will be given. They will be asked to leave the pageant area immediately and may be banned from future participation.

  1. Contestants for the Miss Cotton festival Pageant must be a minimum of 16 years of age by July 14, 2018 and not have reached their 22nd birthday by January 1st, 2018.
  1. The Teen Miss Cotton Festival contestants must be 13 years of age to 15 years of age.
  1. You must be single, never married, never had a marriage annulled and never been pregnant. Each contestant must never have been charged or convicted ofa felony offense, crime or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude.

4. You must be a U.S. citizen and can live anywhere in Fayette County to compete.

5. As a winner you must agree to make personal appearances on behalf of the Cotton Festival during your reign. If Miss Cotton/Teen Miss Cotton Festival does not appear at the request of the pageant directors without reasonable explanation, she will forfeit her title.

6. All personal appearances, photo sessions, and picture releases as Miss. Cotton Festival & Teen Miss Cotton Festival must be approved in advance by the Cotton Festival pageant system directors. The pageant directors will approve all wardrobe choices and attire for all appearances.

7. During the day of the pageant, all body piercings will be removed and all tattoos covered. If the entrant wins the title of Miss Cotton Festival/Teen Miss Cotton Festival, all body piercings will be removed and tattoos covered at all events where she is attending on behalf of the Cotton Festival pageant.

8. The newly selected queen will serve as hostess to the Cotton Festival, which will begin the evening of the pageant and run through the upcoming 2018Cotton Festival. The winners will have duties at next year’s Cotton festival pageant. At all events, Miss Cotton Festival/Teen Miss Cotton Festival will be chaperoned by someone appointed by the committee. No friends may accompany the Queen or members of her Court at those events. The Queens will not partake of any alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs and will not smoke while performing her duties.

9. Any winner with illegal/negative photos or information posted on public websites could be subject to disqualification.

10. The pageant winner agrees to allow the pageant directors and the Cotton Festival to use her picture or likeness on posters, websites, and other promotional materials as shall be solely determined by the Cotton Festival pageant directors.

11. In case of marriage, pregnancy, or any other event that results in any Queen being unable to perform the obligations of the position for the entire year, the pageant winner agrees to relinquish the title and all privileges of said title including but not limited to the crown, banner, trophy and prizes not yet awarded by the date of her resignation, if so requested by the pageant directors and/or the Cotton Festival officers. In the event of a vacancy in the position of Miss Cotton Festival, the next eligible runner-up shall be appointed. The pageant directors and the Cotton festival reserve the right to disqualify them at any time at the directors or the Fair Association’s sole discretion.

12. Neither the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce nor Fayette Academy will be responsible for loss of valuables while contestants are on the properties for rehearsal, contest, or the completion of the fair. Once prizes are awarded, the recipient will be held responsible.

Attire & Makeup:

10- 12yrs - Minimal, Age Appropriate Makeup (light blush, lip gloss and mascara)

13 – 21 yr - Glitz – Makeup, Bling, *No Dresses split higher than the knee*

Judges will be allowed to deduct for not following the guidelines for makeup. You will only need ONE OUTFIT FOR THE ENTIRE PAGEANT. Pageant dresses or party dresses, Sunday Best or Heirloom- YOUR CHOICE. Makeup guidelines are above and should be followed.

Pageant Judging Guidelines:

Contestants will be judged on a total package of head to toe beauty, poise, personality & speaking (for older girls only). We wish to provide young girls with development of self-assurance, poise and grace, public speaking confidence, development of self awareness, proper etiquette, and experience with stage presence. Our mission is to provide young girls the opportunity to experience the world of pageantry in a nurturing and healthy competition while providing an opportunity to give back to others. Each pageant serves as a community service project as each contestant donates can goods which are given to the local food bank to help our community. Community service hours are earned.

Admission

Adults: $5.00 and Children (5 and under): $1.00

Everyone must pay admission except the contestant and one parent/guardian of choice. The pageant is self-supporting and all door admissions, entry fees and sponsor donations go toward awards, judges, trophies, crowns, etc.

Sponsorship – Business or Individuals may Sponsor the Pageant

There are different ways to sponsor the Miss Fayette County Cotton Festival Pageant. We have Participating Sponsors and Advertising Sponsors.

Participating Sponsors – These Sponsors are graciously donating items. You may donate items for production of the pageant (stage decorations, flowers, etc…) or you may donate prizes for the winners to be included in the goody bags. If you are a small business and you would like to be one of our Participating Sponsors, please contact us at 901-465-8690.

Advertising Sponsors – These Sponsors purchase ads in our program which aids in funding the pageant (crown pins, sashes, crowns, facility rental, judges, etc…) If you are interested in being an Advertising Sponsor, please contact us at 901-465-8690. All contestants in the Miss Cotton Festival Division 16-21 yrs. old will have a 15 minute interview on Friday, July 13th, 2018. Each interview will be scheduled as the girls sign up with their registration fees. Times will begin at 4pm and end at 7pm. Contestants should wear business attire for their interview and be prepared to speak about current Fayette County events and organizations. Miss Cotton Festival will be required to attend the Cotton Festival all day, greet visitors and speak on stage at different times throughout the day. Contestants must be a resident of Fayette County to be eligible to compete.
