PROSPECTUS
Entries from artists are being solicited for an exhibition including three different domains:
—-Visual Arts Exhibition (Juried)
—-Silent Auction (Juried)
—-Poetry Reading and Theater Presentations
Please note that there are different guidelines for entries depending upon the domain in which entries are being submitted.
ART EXHIBITION DATES: NOVEMBER 15- NOVEMBER 26, 2017
GALLERY HOURS: Wednesday– Sunday, 1 – 6 PM
ART GALLERY RECEPTION: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 6 – 10 PM
POETRY READINGLIVE PERFORMANCE6 – 9:30 PM
SILENT AUCTION, 6 – 9:00 PM
LOCATION: Art Share LA, 801 E. 4th Place, Los Angeles, CA 90013
ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPATION: Open to all LACPA members as well as all non-member psychologists, psychotherapists, psychoanalysts, clinical and research psychology professors/instructors, and psychotherapy graduate students, both nationally and internationally.
VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITION (GALLERY)
All varieties of multimedia visual art are welcome: painting, drawing, photography, textiles, jewelry, sculpture, ceramics, woodwork, furniture, and other 3-D pieces.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Artistic value, psychological significance, and originality
SUBMISSIONS: The Art Share LA gallery is suitable for all varieties of multimedia and visual art. You may submit up to 3 pieces per medium. All art must be psychologically themed and/or psychologically meaningful. All work submitted must be original, and include an Artist Statement for gallery pieces as specified in the Registration Form.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: September 5, 2017
VISUAL ART SPECIFICATIONS:
There are no size or weight restrictions on pieces submitted, except that you must be able to physically transport your own pieces to and from the gallery. Up to 3 pieces per medium may be electronically submitted as a JPEG file; the higher the resolution, the better (e.g., 2550 x 3300 pixels, equivalent to 8.5 x 11 inches at 300 dots per inch). All work must also be accompanied by an artist statement (see details on Visual Arts Registration Form), be original and psychologically themed and/or psychologically meaningful.
PROCEDURE: Complete the Visual Arts Registration Form (separate link), which includes your artist statement(s) and email the registration form and all accompanying JPEG images as attachments to: .
ENTRY FEE: For the gallery exhibition of visual arts, there is a single, nonrefundable $25 artist submission fee (no matter how many pieces submitted)for Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA) members, a $35 fee for non-LACPA members, and a $20 fee for psychotherapy students. NOTIFICATION: Results of the jury process will be emailed to all artists by October 9, 2017.
LIABILITY WAIVER/ENTRY AGREEMENT: The artist assumes all risks for loss, breakage and damages to any artworks submitted and releases LACPA, The LACPA Foundation, the gallery and theater, and any volunteer connected with the event from any liability for such loss, breakage, and/or damages. By entering this exhibition, the artist hereby agrees to the above Liability Waiver and to abide by all the rules and stipulations set forth in this prospectus.
PHOTOGRAPHY PERMISSION: Please only submit photographs of identifiable individuals from whom you have written permission to use their image. This permission is a protection for both you as the artist and LACPA, as well as an acknowledgement of the rights of the individual in the photograph.
TRANSPORTATION. DELIVERY: All art accepted for the show must be hand-delivered by artists or by proxy during the last week of October, on the days and times provided in the acceptance letter. Art must be framed or equipped with wire hangers and ready for display. All art must be unpacked by the artist or proxy at the gallery and all packing materials must be removed from the gallery and brought back at the close of the show. Please do not mail artwork unless prior arrangements with the curators have been made.
RETURN: It is the responsibility of the artist to pick up art from the gallery during the week following the exhibition.
SILENT AUCTION
All artists juried into the art exhibition are invited to participate in the Silent Auction. Any pieces accepted for the exhibition may be entered into the Silent Auction. Only actual pieces will be displayed, and no prints or additional pieces. The Silent Auction will be open to the public at the gallery through the Reception on Saturday, November 18 from 6 PM to 9:00 PM. The highest bidder is guaranteed the piece. The artist may set the requested starting bid. Forty-five percent of all bids collected will go to the artist, while 55% will go to LACPA to defray exhibition costs. It will be the responsibility of the artist to collect any pieces donated that have not been purchased.

POETRY READING & LIVE PERFORMANCE
POETRY READING (NO ENTRY FEE): If you are a poet and would like to read your original poetry between 5:00 and 6:00 on November 18, please reserve your spot with Robert Carroll, MD, through his email: or by phone: 310.475.2990. This unique opportunity to read your poems exists on a first come, first serve basis; so please make your reservations as soon as possible.
THEATER (LIVE PERFORMANCE) SUBMISSIONS (NO ENTRY FEE): If you would like to present a short piece of music, theater, comedy, dance, film or other performing art modality by yourselfor with others, contact Dr. Victoria Stevens by email: nd brieflydescribe your piece, the length, and basic audio-visual needs. JURORS
Robert Bilder, PhD,is the Tennenbaum Family Professor of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences and Professor of Psychology at UCLA, where he directs the Center for the Biology of Creativity.
James Catterall, PhD, is Emeritus Professor of Education at UCLA and is the Principal Investigator at the Center for Research on Creativity at the California Institute of the Arts.
RebeccaCatterall’scareer has followed the paths of an educator, artist, and community activist. She is Past President of the Topanga Canyon Gallery and serves as an Education Consultant for the Centers for Research on Creativity, Los Angeles.
Gus Harperis a full time artist. He has shown at numerous galleries around Los Angeles, New York, Mexico City, New Orleans, and soon at The Artwork Network in Denver, Colorado.
CURATORS
Terry Marks-Tarlow, PhD, Co-Chair of Community Outreach Committee is a clinical psychologist who has written a creativity curriculum for educators, and illustrates her own books, including the Truly Mindful Coloring Book as well as Clinical Intuition in Psychotherapy. She sits on the Advisory Board of the Global Alliance for Transformational Entertainment.
Pamela McCrory, PhD, Co-Chair, LACPA Community Outreach Committee is a psychologist who has an interest in creativity and the integration of psychology and the arts. She served on APA’s 2014 Presidential Arts and Psychology Committee and co-chair of task group for community art at APA 2014 convention. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Society for the Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity and the Arts.
