MINUTES ROSEWOOD BOWLS CLUB

MONTHLY COUNCIL MEETING

HELD……..13 NOVEMBER 2017

ATTENDANCE: Trevor Cook, Matt Dale, Julie Hagan, Greg James, Denise and Dennis Heaton Stephen Sellars and Nigel Marshall.

Observing. Sean Keidge, Rodney Hogan (Carnival Coordinator) and Lorraine Marshall (Secretary's Secretary).

OPENING: The President opened the meeting at 1802hrs (6.02PM) and asked for any apologies. It was moved Trevor Cook, seconded Julie Hagan that an apology for Terry Hobden be accepted.

CARRIED

PREVIOUS MINUTES: The Secretary moved that the minutes as distributed were correct. Seconded Dennis Heaton. CARRIED

BUSINESS FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES: The Secretary advised that the letter to the local Police had not been done on advice from the President. (He had visited the Station and filled out an incident report and the letter was superfluous to requirement.)

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary moved, seconded by Julie Hagan that the inwards correspondence be accepted, including refunding green fees for Lady Pennant Semi-finalists, and the outward adopted. (Annex A ) CARRIED

BUSINESS FROM CORRESPONDENCE:

Matt Dale added to Correspondence an email he had received from the Ipswich City Council

indicating a clean Inspection from the Health Department.

REPORTS:

TREASURER: The Treasurer presented a statement (Annex B) for the end of October with a NAB balance of $5,759.73 and a Bendigo account for the Carnival account balance of $7,209.24. Seconded Julie Hagan. CARRIED

GAMES CHAIRPERSON:

Dennis’s Report at Annex C, seconded Trevor Cook. CARRIED

HOUSE CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT: Trevor reported all going well. Boughens Electrical Services had been called to repair Hot Water Systems. Eventually traced to fuse box service call out fee will be charged no labour. Championship trophies donated by Mark and Sharon McAllister had to be hand printed cost of $225.00 at Mister Mint Ipswich. Moved Trevor Cook, seconded Nigel Marshall, that the expense be ratified and a presentation night be held Friday 17 November. CARRIED

GROUNDS CHAIRPERSON REPORT: Steve Martin was absent again. In recognition of Sean’s diligence and enthusiasm to assist on the green and in deference to Sean's reprimand it was moved Nigel Marshall, seconded Trevor Cook that Sean Keidge be employed as an assistant to the green keeper at the cost of one carton of beer per week from 12 October until the Carnival.

Carnival Report: Report at Annex D, presented by Rodney Hogan. It was moved Dennis Heaton, seconded Julie Hagan that the Carnival Controlling Body be the Carnival Coordinator (Rodney Hogan), The Club Secretary (Nigel Marshall) and the Scorer (Pam Clarke), all non-players on the day, and rules disputes be handled by Carnival Umpire (Phil Regan). Any time Phil is off his rink on umpire duties, extra time will be allowed for his rink after the bell. CARRIED

GENERAL BUSINESS:

Maintenance: Terry requests the help of 4-6 members Mon Tue after the carnival for work on the green.

Sponsorship: With the change of Mayor it was moved Greg James, seconded Denise Heaton that Greg pursue sponsorship for new club shirts. CARRIED

Pub Day Prizes: It was noted that some teams were disappointed in the sponsors prizes at our last Pub Day. Teams were told to return the trinkets presented to receive their full complement of alcohol.

Rumors: The President asked that if anyone heard derogatory stories about the Club or Members that remarks be put in writing so they can then be investigated and rebuked where necessary or acted on if required.

CLOSURE: The meeting was closed at 2040hrs (7.40 p.m) with the next meeting to be 1800hrs (6.00 p.m) 11December 2017.
