Playpark and future funding – The opening of the playpark was a great success and was well attended. An amount of £260.00 was raised by the Walcott Playing Field Committee on the day. This will go towards an event gala to be held each year on the playing field to raise funds to pay back the parish council.
Street Tidy competition – A suggestion was raised to have a competition to hold a village tidiest street competition. This could get residents to take a pride in the area where they live and to build a community spirit. Problems were raised about what would happen between residents if residents did not want to participate and those that did. It was decided not to continue with the suggestion.
Next Project – The Walcott Playing Field Committee would like apply for funding for a community garden to be installed on the top corner of the playing field. It was a point raised by the questionnaire that was distributed in the village that the residents would like one. Lincolnshire County Council have the funds in place to go towards the setting up of the garden in the community and a meeting is to be arranged by the Playing Field Committee with them, to move the project forward.
A sign has been produced to be installed on the High Street pointing down to The Drift with directions to the playing field. The Clerk to collect from Clearprint in Sleaford.
The cutting costs for the playing field will be increased due to the new equipment being installed. It will now involvestrimmingaround the equipment which will add to the grass cutting time. Cllr. Grantham will keep the parish councillors informed of any price increases when they happen.
