MEETING OF THE GRADUATE COUNCIL
The Graduate Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in Karls Hall, Room 102. Council Chair Ching-Wen Chang called the meeting to order at 3:31.

Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Dr. Buchanan and seconded by Dr. Worman to approve the minutes from the February, 2017 meeting. The minutes were unanimously approved.
Committee Reports
Report of the Council Chair – Ching-Wen Chang
The IDF is April 29 with Abstracts due April 10. Sixty judges are needed so Council members were encouraged to volunteer and to spread the word in the departments for volunteers.
Report of the Graduate Dean – Ching-Wen Chang for Julie Masterson

In the absence of Dr. Masterson and Dr. Tomasi, Dr. Chang gave the Dean’s report.
Cassie Sherwood (MA, COM) was the winner of the MSU 3 Minutes Thesis competition. Ms. Sherwood will present her 3MT at the MAGS conference on April 7.
Taylor Smith (MS, PSY) is the winner of the MAGS Outstanding Teaching Assistant. This is the first time MSU has won this competition. Ms. Smith will receive her award at the MAGS conference on April 6. As part of her recognition, she will receive a $750 cash award.
A ”Thesis Search” is available on the Graduate College Webpage in the Faculty and Staff section ( http://bearworks.missouristate.edu/theses/). This site now goes directly to the library database of theses (Bearworks) which provides a much easier way to search and has more information available. Please visit this site soon, do some searches, and give Dr. Tomasi your feedback.
