The South Shore Council has a number of active programs in the local and International arenas:

Some projects in process:

-  Abington: Recover School Books being discarded by local schools: All levels Kthru College. All books are currently being sent to the Rotary Club of Lakia Contact Hal Simms / Ph: 781-878-6840 for more info.

-  Weymouth’s S.African Project to provide Adult Literacy and Life Skills Program in Kwazulu Natal, headed up by Paulette Boudrot,is now completed. We look forward to her presentation on the program at a future date. Contact: , 617-750-7511 for more information.

- Group Study Exchange:

Clubs interested in a joint meeting to hear of the GSE Team experiences Russia.

1/ Abington: Harold Simms: No Notes

2/ Braintree: Bill Tennant (Jules Barones reporting)

-  Monday Night 8/16/2010 Braintree had (18) Members and guests at the Pawsox Rotary Night.

-  Very Successful Golf tournament in June netted over $8,000.

-  Annual Rotary Picnic at the Mark Logan “Estates”.

-  Inducted a new member Rotary to give the club 20 new members for the year.

-  Braintree will hold their Great Grown-up Spelling Bee on 24 Oct 2010 at Braintree. Get your best four spellers on stage !!

3/ The Bridgewaters: Red Brittain / Alt- Bruce Marquis

-  Had (25) members and kids at the Pawsox Rotary Night.

-  12 Sept 2010: will hold a Chicken BBQ

-  Will award the annual Citizen for the Year which will include (3) towns.

4/Brockton: Mort Feinberg

-  Slow start to the Rotary year with “in-house” projects and programs.

-  Held the Basil-Bourne Golf Tourney with proceeds going to the Brockton Club.

-  The Brockton Rotary’s Community Corp located inside the Sinai Hospital in Stoughton will hold it’s annual fundraiser thru a Walk-a-Thon in September for Seniors that need full time care.

-  The Club inducted (3) new members at our last meeting, one of whom is my wife, Karen.

-  Early planning for starting the Visioning Process

-  First football game of the year was this past Sunday and parked over (130) cars. Luckily the weather held out and no one got to wet and the BIG BONUS – The Pats WON.

-  12 July – Scholarship recipients and RYLA Representatives attended out meeting and gave a report on themselves and the RYLA event.

-  19 July – Steak Cookout with various clubs attending

-  Have held two off-site meetings: Miniature Golf and Bowling outings

-  23 August: Senior Cookout at Holbrook court

-  19 Sept: Mohegan Sun Casino Bus trip (check in with Judy O’Brian/Holbrook club if interested)

-  Meetings will be back at the Halfway Café after Labor Day.

-  Judy O’Brian Holbrook is running a “Keys for Hope” program. Old, unused keys are collected, melted down and sold for scrap to support a local food pantry. Bring those old that no longer to any lock in your house to the next meeting. !!

14/ Plymouth Noontime: Steve Silverman

-  Participated in the 4th of July Celebration Parade and helped to raise finds for next year’s Celebration by collecting donation along the parade route.

-  28 Aug: the club cooked and sold hamburgers and hotdogs on the waterfront during Plymouths festival days.

-  Plymount club will be holding a Golf outing /tournament on Mon, 27 Sept 2010 from 1PM – 5PM at the South Marsh Golf Club in Plymouth. .Dinner and cocktails (non necessarily in that order) will be served after golf.

-  The Plymouth ClubRunner Wedsite has been recently updated. Check it out !!
