372/ME/17 / MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES OF THE
POLICY, FINANCE AND PUBLICITY COMMITTEE OF STAVELEY TOWN COUNCIL HELD ON WEDNESDAY
22 NOVEMBER 2017
There were no matters arising.
373/ME/17 / FINANCIAL ISSUES/2017 UPDATE
The Town Clerk and Financial Officer presented the Committee with a set of management accounts up to November 2017. Based on these projections the Council is expected to have a small surplus at the end of the fiscal year.
It was RESOLVED that the budget update report be noted.
HEART OF STAVELEY PROJECT – HLF
The Town Clerk and Financial Officer updated the Committee on the outcome of his recent meeting with the Heritage Lottery Fund. The HLF had requested additional documentation by the end of January, which has now been supplied, before they make their final decision relating to funding for phase 3 (the gardens) of the Heart of Staveley project.
374/ME/17 / HEALTH AND SAFETY
The Committee were updated on recent activity relating to health and safety. This activity was all routine and planned as part of the Council’s monitoring arrangements.
375/ME/17 / APPLICATIONS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
An application had been received from a local wrestling group who were seeking support for a forthcoming show at the Speedwell Rooms and subsequent costs associated with setting up a new club in Staveley. The Committee asked the Town Clerk and Financial Officer to get further information relating to the ongoing nature of the club and the likely involvement of Staveley residents.
377/ME/17 / PROVISION OF GRIT BINS
The committee considered a number of requests for new/additional grit bins. These were at Poolsbrook, Barrow Hill, Duckmanton, Hartington and Hollingwood. These requests were all approved.
It was RESOLVED that the new grit bins be commissioned for winter 2018/19.

RESOLVED - That in view of the fact that publicity would be prejudicial to the public interest due to the confidential nature of the following matters, the public and representatives of the press be excluded from this meeting during the discussion thereof.

The Town Clerk and Financial Officer stated that he would be bringing a report to the February Policy, Finance and Publicity Committee on a permanent role for the Business Admin Apprentice.
