There is now a membership Committee, Mike drafted a proposal for the Board’s consideration. A happy hour meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning May 14th, hopefully to encourage participation in the Club. Will be held from 5:30 to 6:30, will count as a make-up meeting but will not be a required meeting. We must find places that have a small room for us to use. Would like to stay in Plain Township. The first 3 meetings will be held at 91. Hopefully this will help members to have fun and be more willing to participate in Club activities. Gerry motioned, Karen 2nd. Rich would like to establish that committees would include new members as they join. There will be 2 club meetings, one in May and one in June. Members will have chances to ask all questions. Gerry motioned, Karen 2nd. Passed
8. International: Keith Stults – No report
9. Vocational: Tim Kell – Student of the month from Frazier. That school would like some money for repairs to their playground. They feel that $5000.00 would be the cost, would appreciate any consideration. We will donate $2000.00, ask for some recognition for the donation.
10. Vice President: Rich Tirpak – No report
11. President Elect Report: - : Brent May – Needs approval for next year’s budget. Met with Rich, Gerry, Ryan, Phil in order to come up with a viable budget for next year, for the Board’s review, not much change in the right side programs. Fundraising – better planning for Pancake Day, when our sports teams are in town. All Star Classic, ahead of projections, and the Auction were successful. Advertising – would like to continue, need to investigate papers we would like to use. Expenses, not many changes, pins etc. speaker gifts need to be restocked. International projects, Brent’s emphasis will be to help build schools. Community projects – township parks project did not go through, so Brent would like to partner with the city council to create green space below Glenwood. Perhaps put benches etc. with Rotary signs on them. Literacy project – Shawn Warstler has approximately $3000.00 to donate. Bob and Brent met to plan reinvigorating the Interact Club. Please review the proposed budget for discussion at the next meeting.
12. Past President Report: Mike Pierce – No report
13. President’s Report: Gerry Hohler – New fundraiser – perhaps Harlem Globetrotters (Ambassaders) in October. Rob Steinberg is very interested in taking over the Basketball Classic but is not receiving the necessary cooperation. Karen sent Gerry all the information regarding the Reverse Raffle, Gerry has been asked to speak at the next District meeting and will include this topic. Rotary needs to advertise the good works performed by Rotary, this will encourage participation and recruiting of new members.
