Minutes of the Special Meeting of the Fun City Chorus

Board of Directors, July 30, 2012

Present: Pete Bower, Steve Campbell, Chuck Fish, Chuck Hanna, Vic Harrington, Andy Hemphill, Bill James (Chair), Steve Spakes, Bill Stiebing, Elmer Tornquist and Bill Wiard. Absent: Mike Blackwood.

President Bill James convened a special meeting of the Board during our rehearsal break at 8:30 PM. He informed the Board that he had received an email from Mark Holdeman informing him that the SWD Board voted to suspend Division Contests for 2013. They want to do festivals in each Division instead and thought that our Fun Fest template was ideal. They would like to have Hot Springs host a NE Division Festival (no contest) in conjunction with (or an expansion of) Fun Fest in 2013. Our date for Fun Fest 2013 is already set and we plan to do four songs from the list suggested for the Harmony Society’s 75th anniversary, so Bill asked whether the Fun City Board wanted to invite the rest of the NE Division to participate. There was unanimous agreement that this was a “no brainer” and that we should reply favorably to the SW District’s request.

Bill James also noted that we have been asked to sing the National Anthem and a few songs at the meeting of the Arkansas Rural Water Association at the Convention Center at noon on Monday, August 27, 2012. We would be paid $200.00. The Board agreed that we should accept this singing engagement.

Steve Spakes mentioned that Mike Blackwood who was out of town had asked him to present the idea of getting name badges for members to the Board. Steve showed the Board two magnetic name badges he had had made up and asked whether we wanted to get them for all members. They cost $7.00 apiece. After commenting favorably on the idea, Pete Bower moved that we order the badges and pay for them from the chapter treasury. Andy Hemphill seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Bill Stiebing, Secretary
