Minutes of the General Meeting - ‘Love Heaton Norris’- 11th April 2016 at

Present:

Margaret Townsend (Rotating Chair), Tony Keller, Sandra Jones, Andrew Paton, Kirk Crager, Tony Ashurst, Roger Lasance, Maggie Elsley, Dorothy & Brian Bamford, Roy Broomhead, Councillor Colin Foster & Councillor Tom McGee

  2. Introduction & Welcome – Each Introduced themselves and members gave a warm welcome to Brian, Dorothy, Colin and Tom.
  1. Matters Arising - the previous minutes were correct.

3.1 Orchard – Margaret explained that the Parks Dept would help with reconstructing the current Orchard on Heaton Norris Rec as it was valdalised. Tom explained that Heaton Mersey Cons group had the Cheshire Wildlife Trust and Sustainable living assist them and will sent contact details.

3.2 Leaflets – The diary leaflets still need to be distributed fully and a new one designed for the Green work.

3.3 Red Rock – the councillors offered assistance if the group needed it in the future. Kirk will keep the group informed of progress,

3.4 Memorial – we still await final approval from the dioceses. Tom suggested Sheila Robbins would be useful to contact as they had a cemetery cleaning group also Martin Miller was the M/c Dioceses CEO. St Johns Heaton Mersey managed to obtain a grant for a memorial garden – Tom has more info.

3.5 Belmont Fencing – No further information from Tom Grundy on this and the members were very keen to understand more about this proposal as it did not seem plausible and was another graffiti risk. Maggie will ask Chet to pursue

4.  LHN Plans for 2016 -

  1. Dog Fouling – LHN has submitted a funding request to The Peoples Health Trust to help start this project.[target area of Samuel Street (nee Ash Fields) There was a Team established who need to meet independently: - Jean, Chet, Andrew, Maggie, Vijay and Margaret.
  1. Jubilee Garden – Colin informed that if we wanted a bench via the Council it would cost £1,600 [Tom can give contacts]. Maggie had feedback from Asda & Farmfoods – they would like the area to go for breaks. Farmfoods suggested we apply to head office for vouchers – Tony suggestged we approach the Rotary for some funding - Maggie will action. Manchester Airport Funds may be available. Work was due to start on 23/24 Apr but this is felt to be too soon for a communications leaflet to locals. POST MEET NOTE: It is now feasible to hold the event 7/8 May
  1. Graffiti – Under St Mary;s Church graffiti has been removed however within days it was back again. A security guard is securing the area until it has been rendered inaccessible. The Highways need to confirm when this is complete Roger suggested a camera with voice monitor maybe a deterrent. POST MEET NOTE: All are invited to a meeting and photo shoot at 9:30 on 21st Apr to celebrate the resolve.

6.1 Allotment – Tony A has secured a ¼ plot for LHN and the Wellsprings folk to work on.

6.2 Emergency Doctors – Tom explained this was a Doctors cooperative “Viaduct” and the access concerns were taken into account [and will be monitored by the Stockport GP practices who have commissioned the service] and the service will transport patients who have extreme problems attending. The venue is larger and with more doctors available.

6.3 Dangerous Edge – near the motorway end of the park. Kirk will review what can be done and contact the Highways Agency for advise.

6.4 Councillors – Tom and Colin apologised but for the next 3 meetings they have a diary clash so will not be able to attend LHN Meetings. They are happy to be contacted for help or they have a surgery 1st Sat of the month in the Heatons Library.
