M/SDanz/BalcerA motion to approve the First-Year Seminars being offered by Dr. Rios-

Mendoza (NCIS: Forensic Science) and Mr. James Chamernick (Grocery Store Geography). APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY

M/SBalcer/BreckenridgeA motion to approveSMGT 115 “Environmental Science and

Sustainability”from the Sustainable Management Program

on campus as satisfying the general education requirement for Environomental Science. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY

M/SBalcer/SchuldtA motion to deslash all upper division classes in Biology that are

listed as “undergraduate/graduate.”

This action will simplify the content of the degree progress report for students. No graduate-level classes have been offered in the Biology Program for many years. Graduate-level classes will be taught as separate classes with different numbers, if needed.

level or above, except for BIOL 681 Special topics.

A mechanism exists that can bring graduate-level classes back into the catalog, if needed.

M/SBalcer/DanzA motion to accept the language used in choice #2 (as presented in

the meeting) for describing the requirements that must be completed in order to obtain a Broad Field Science major.

The language for this major was not written accurately in the new version of the on-line catalog.

the Broad Field Science major to be two of the following three courses: GEOL 110, 112, or 130.

M/SBurkett/LaneA motion to provide flash drives to students who participate in the

Symposiums, at least until a better solution arises.

The Dept. was given 24 mini netbooks. Discussions with IT are currently underway to determine how these items can be used.

There will be 2 posters during the Fall Symposium that will require a 30-minute block of time.

The Pre-Med club will present a panel of professionals on December 4th, from 5:00-7:00 pm.
